The Way to Personal Happiness

I was reading through professional organizer Ariane Benefit’s informative blog and found the neatest quote by Sydney Powell:

Try to forget yourself in the service of others. For when we think too much of ourselves and our own interests, we easily become despondent. But when we work for others, our efforts return to bless us.

I love this. So many times in our homes we are thinking of ourselves and what makes us happy. Rightly so, to a degree, this is our home and it should make us happy! But if that is what it is all about, making ourselves “HAPPY”, how happy will we really be if we never take the time to share and serve? For true happiness, we can use the wonderful talents and homes we have to bless someone else. I think about Alicia, teaching her niece to tie that French Knot, to cook, and other things she generously shares with her. Love that! Then she takes the time to share it all with us, in her own colorful Alicia way through images and stories. And we love it! We are touched by it.

The Way to Personal Happiness

Blogging has opened up a whole new form of communication, where we can connect with other women all over the world, even in the midst of our busy days! Reading them is like opening a letter from a friend — you can’t wait to see what they have to share. I think of these wonderful ladies I am just starting to find out about (here are just a FEW of the blogs I am loving right now: Daisy Cottage, Jane’s Apron, Soule Mama, My Cozy Home plus a dozen more) who do so much for their families and then they turn around and take the time to share their ideas with us! WOW! Very cool. They inspire us. They challenge us. They enlighten us to see new things. They reach out and connect with us. All because they are willing to serve others both in their homes and through their blogs.

In the process of creating, these women are really making a difference. I feel it every time I read what these women post, their hearts are wanting to encourage and help as they pour out their lives and wisdom in a blog, or share their crafts and handiwork, or even by sharing neat things they find! Each has something to offer that is unique to who they are, they communicate it in their own creative way, and they share. BOY DO THEY SHARE! :-)

Good perspective for happy living. Happy weekend!
