Melissa, what a lovely post. I will be back to re-read and catch up. Having a house guest arrive tomorrow, so as you can imagine, I had things to do! Plus, can't blog or surf much at work these days, so I am falling behind! Your recent posts are all so lovely and thought-provoking and observant, and beautiful to look at too! They take a lot of time to create, so thanks from me for all the lovely images you've compiled. Back to read more and re-read more soon! P.S. I mentioned you in my post tonight.

Hi Manuela! I'd be happy to address this issue further, I'll try to do a specific post on it as well as address it in my "senses" series. Thanks for asking, it helps me to know what people's needs are. I do realize the problem, my last house had NO entry, just enter and you are in the living room!

Sometimes the best you can do is to define a little entry as best you can, like I said in the post, with a fun area rug and perhaps a mirror or wall sconce. Small shelving can sometimes work too to give you a place to set accessories. A couple of hooks can even work for guests coats if you don't have a coat closet. Everyone's space is different, so without actually seeing your space it is hard to give specifics.

Important thing is that it is clean, has a rug for feet wiping, and has some element of visual interest that you can see when you enter. Even if it is in a living area and not actually in the entry. A nice paint job, good lighting and some personality in your accessories will do the trick nicely!

Thanks for the comment!
