Just popped in with a little post-Christmas hello for my blogging friends! Hello! I’ve been a busy bee entertaining large groups of people in my home — so that means lots of food preparation, lots of presents, lots of clean up and lots of noise! We enjoyed it all, but I must confess yesterday afternoon was the most blissful day of all.
After our final Christmas group had eaten and the gifts were all opened, we sat around drinking lattes, nestled down in plump sofas by a toasty warm fire as SNOW fell outside our window for the first time in probably 20 years on Christmas Day. Christmas snow (any snow, really) is a rarity in Portland, Oregon! Let’s just say our favorite word all together now: COZY. Yeah, I was a happy girl.
Between extended family gatherings, high schoolers, college kids, and 7 year old boys, we’ll be having more fun, more food and more noise all the way through New Years. We aren’t done yet! But for the next few days, I’m relaxing and recharging. Soaking it all in. I’m thinking books, movies, peacefulness and peppermint mochas. Blissful sigh.
Hope you are all enjoying the peace of the season and a rest from the usual routine! Looking forward to the new year of inspiration from each of you and catching up soon!
For those of you who’ve been wondering but are afraid to ask, this was the closet thing we had to an unpleasant rat incident over the holidays. Rats and giraffes (both alive and dead) had mercy on us. But the mechanical rats are roaming freely, twitching their noses and scaring me as I round dark corners. Little boys love that sort of humor.
A touch of a white Christmas- lucky you! Just a merry hello on the day after Christmas!
Blessings,
kari & kijsa
Hi Melissa! Snow, how wonderful for you!! Must hae been a pretty sight. You are so amazing taking the time to post being so busy! We are sooo lazy today!! So glad to read your Christmas was lovely and lots of fun for you to come too. Looking forward to a great New Year for everyone :) Jenn and Jacqui xo
Hi Melissa,
Sometimes the best thing is to stop and just recharge your batteries…I do it a lot myself. Glad your holiday was special.
Hello Melissa,
Nice to hear from you. Glad your Christmas went well and that you had “fresh” snow. Ours , though technically a white Christmas, was brownish, gray dirty snow. Yuck!! Rain tomorrow may wash it away and give us a clean slate.
Looking forward to the New Year when we can all get back to our regular routine.
Janet
Oh I hope you had a very Merry Christmas, your pictures look wonderful!
Hey there,
Sounds like you have been having a blast.. especially the snow on christmas day… how lovely…. I am doing as you are … recharging… reading much awaited magazines and books and hoping to be able to gain some inspiration… we had some wonderful family time……got a scare today … keeping watch on pj … she decided to eat a bunch of peanut butter cup cookies when mom wasnt looking… so mommy has to make sure she doesnt get sick…
HUGS TO YOU

Hi Michelle, so glad you had a white Christmas. I love your photos — so beautiful and cozy, too! Enjoy the rest of the holidays.
xoxo,

Ah your home does look cozy! So glad you are having a wonderful Christmas with snow! Living in Michigan we get quite a bit of the stuff and the moment Christmas is over I am so finished with it! Unfortunately it isnt finished with me:>P I will be pining for Spring for the next 3 months. I am also looking foward to the fresh New year! Keep enjoying the season Melissa:>)
Melissa,
Your home is gorgeous! I am LOVING your Christmas tree! So glad you had a wonderful holiday. Sounds busy and positively wonderful (mine was as well). Here’s to a prosperous New Year!
ahhh… sounds absolutely lovely!
wish I could visit…=)
To have folks come and visit..and say “your home is soo
cozy.” That is the best compliment.
Hope your Christmas was truly blessed.
well, I’m glad you had a white Christmas, because we didn’t! I guess living in Alaska doesn’t guarantee snow for Christmas :)
And PS, that rat looks downright evil!
tanti auguri per un nuovo anno anno meraviglioso e pieno di serenità mary
Happy Holidays to you, Melissa! I’m happy to hear you had a snowy Christmas! We were hoping for one, but we weren’t so lucky. Blessings to you and your family!
Heather
Lucky you! We had rain & sleet all day on Christmas so we were cozy too. But we would have loved a little bit of snow. I’m looking forward to the New Year! I think it’s going to be an especially good one!
Manuela
SNOW! That’s great! Enjoy your recharge and beautiful home. Loved the pictures!
The quiet of the day after Christmas is one of the most joyful experiences isn’t it?. So glad you are able to take a breather before the next big push! And snow sounds heavenly compared to our high winds and leftover ash from our horrific fires this past summer. Please send snow.
peace to your hearts~j~
Seems like you’ve had a great Christmas. And even snow!!! I really envy you. Here is nothing that comes near snow. Not even frost. Just grey, rainy days. Boring, boring.
I hope you’ll stay in touch with us when you can.
Take care.
Love Elzie
Merry Christmas Melissa! How did I miss that you also live in Oregon? We did not have a “white Christmas” until the eve, but it was beautiful, and very fun for the family to wake up to a blanket of snow. We ended our evening by watching the movie, “Mother Theresa,” and it will be one of our greatest Christmas memories – by the warm fire, of course!
Happy New Year to you and your family!

Oh I’m so glad you got blessed with snow! We’re planning to visit family about 90 miles from here tomorrow and, of course, we supposed to get 6″ of snow! Yikes! I’m putting in my order now… Once we hit the new year, I’m ok with summer returning =) Blessings… Polly
That sounds cozy indeed…. just the words “peppermint mocha” put me in a cozy mood!
Christmas sounds very warm and cozy…and a white Christmas too. How perfect! Your tree looks lovely. Have a wonderful evening..Linda
Glad to hear you had a great Christmas…love your photos with the lights all lit up!! I would love to have friends or family over to entertain but we are so very far away!!!

Glad you had such a nice Christmas and I am doing like you….just hunkering down for a few days and reading some wonderful “junking” books I got for Christmas.
