Phew, returning home from traveling is always exhausting. I had a great time in NYC, but trying to re-enter my schedule has been almost as challenging as getting a flight home! I had a crazy situation at the airport which I will tell you about in a separate post. It involved being frisked in security and begging a Delta airline captain (in sign languages through a window) to let me on the plane after he had pulled away from the gate. Good times!
While most of my trip involved touring sites with my 16 year old daughter’s choir (they had been invited to NYC to sing in Carnegie Hall!), I did sneak away in order to visit ABC Carpet & Home. I knew you’d all enjoy seeing that part of my trip! It was an amazing place.
For those of you who don’t know, ABC Home is an enormous design retailer in Manhattan. They have been developing and featuring products that are not only beautiful to look at, but healthy for us and the environment. They’ve been featured in many magazines so you may have read about them. I was blown away by the array of furnishings and products as well as the eye-popping display of goods on every floor. From chandeliers to beds, to toys, sofas, linens and bath products, they had a bit of everything.
I’m not sure if taking photos was a taboo or not, but I took the risk and snapped away on your behalf! I knew you’d love to see some of the goods! I didn’t take photos of everything, but some things I just couldn’t resist.
I was mesmerized by all the light fixtures.
Each one was so unique and beautiful. And so much sparkle!
I loved the variety of styles shown on the floor. There were tons of gorgeous mosaic pieces that were really stunning.
Even the architecture of the building was interesting to look at.
I really enjoyed the children’s section. I was taking pictures like mad and no one stopped me. I was like a kid in a candy shop. Thanks ABC Home for letting me feast on all this loveliness and share it here!!!
Notice the paper backed shelves. I need to add this photo (above) to our Paper Post…
Lots of mosaic goodness.
There were lots of driftwood pieces. I felt like I was on the Oregon Coast. They ask a fortune for pieces like this! Actually, I think it is illegal to take driftwood from the Oregon Coast so I don’t know where they found all this wood.
Those are the photos I managed to take. I barely scraped the surface of all the glorious floors, so do stop in if you ever get the chance! You won’t be disappointed!
Oh WOW! I am almost speechless looking at the gorgeous photos. I have been to their website countless times for inspiration.
I especially adore the light fixture in the children’s sections, the one with pink and blue. Too cute and frilly!
Great photos. I am sure you had a blast:)
What a delightful post! The company I work for, Anichini, has a boutique on the linens floor but I have never been to ABC personally and I’ve been curious to see it’s treasures. Your photos are a lovely introduction. I’m glad you had such a good time! ~~Kathy
What breath taking photo’s! I have always wanted to visit ABC Carpet and Home. Thank You for the chance to get a peek inside.
Blessings,
Carol
Havn’t been over in a coons age….of course had to gawk at all the pretty pics. Sounds like you had a good time in NYC. I am gonna go back in some of your older posts andsee if you have posted your home….those are my fave! Cherry
i think i just died and went to my heaven
what beautiful things!
happy easter.
oxoox,
jessi
you are the luckiest girl in the world.
my life seems so blah right now.
i want to be you.
That place is amazing! I remember seeing Lynnette Jennings, I believe, do a tour of it on her show years ago. Your pictures are stunning…anything for the cause!
Now, do tell about the pilot and the come-back-here sign language. LOL!
Take care, get some rest. Trips are always exhausting no matter how much fun you had.
Oh, how’d your daughter’s group do at Carnegie Hall? Now THAT must’ve been amazing. What an honor!
The chandeliers are gorgeous but I’m nut about that dresser covered in mosaic. Did you check out the price tag. This place alone is worth a trip to NYC.

Oh, my! I don’t think it gets much more delicious than this. Love all the beautiful lighting too. Wow. T
This looks like so much fun to stroll through rooms of wonderful items like this.
Good for you.
oooh those are such incredible photos Sandy. Thank you for going undercover style and taking such great snaps!
That place alone could get me on a plane to NYC! So glad you were able to get away.
looking forward to more stories!
julia
I might have never come out of there! Thanks for sharing the eye candy. :-) Rosie
Great pics. I literally live 12 minutes from the city (if there is no traffic) and NEVER GO!! With so much inspiration from your pics, I want to go in today!! I love the pic with the willow branches and the chandelier. Sounds like this summer I will be hopping over to the city alot..I can not believe I never go.
It’s a fabulous place! I used to go to just look when I lived in NYC. The prices are ridiculous! Lots of inspiration there though!
Manuela
Can you hear me saying Ooooh, Aaaaah!? What gorgeous inspiration! I must visit their website! If I ever get to NYC that will certainly be a place I want to explore!
this is absolutely fantastic, thanks for sharing :)
Wow Melissa, what a great tour, thanks for showing us these photos. I really love that mosaic dresser.
Great photos!
Its a pretty amazing store to browse in. Very fantastical.
Wow, next time I’m in New York City, THIS place will certainly be on my list of “have to visit” places!!
Thank you for the inspiration!
Blessings,
Sher
Oh MElissa! Every single picture is stunning! I am so jealous- a trip to NYC and a real live peek at those treasures! I am tryint to catch up on my blog reading, but I wanted you to know that I got your messages, and I am doing great. I am starting to feel better (12 weeks now), and I was really touched that you thought of me. I hope you have a wonderful Easter/Resurrection Sunday!
The place is great isn’t it!!!! I am a short train ride away…and though it is BE-A-UTIFUL ….the prices usually reflect that. But, I love them for inspiration. I like to scour the flea markets to find the same look…only at half the price :)
Those are neat pictures. I like the one with the branch in front of the mirror –the branch looks like it has spanish moss on it–which is everywhere around here where I live. I have a hard time going into shops that have soooo much stuff. I get like an info overload experience. I can only take it for a while and then I have to get somewhere with more simplicity. But it was nice to have a glance at ;-)
I seriously considered moving to NYC specifically for ABC Home. Such great coverage on a great space, Melissa— NICE JOB! :)
p.s. SO glad to have you back safe and sound…
This is one of our all-time favorite stores…oh..we have sunk in leather chairs on floor four, been lost among the Ralph Lauren showroom…admired the miles of carpets…spent hours among the fabric rolls in the basement! You are right on about its fabulousness!!! Also- for anyone trekking to Florida, they opened an ABC store in Del Ray (close to West Palm)…smaller, but equally wonderful!
Some of kijsa’s most amazing antique finds came from their Brooklyn warehouse! Worth hunting for!!! Thanks for all the beautiful photos!
blessings,
kari & kijsa
Oh, WOW, WOW, WOW – such gorgeousness (is that a word?)!! I am breathless after looking – I can only imagine how you must have felt being there! Thanks for sharing – you are always so good to share trends and marketplace insight – thank you so much Melissa!! Inspiration abounds here as always!
Hugs and blessings…and Happy Easter if I don’t chat with you beforehand!!
Becky S.
Your story of communicating with the Delta airline captain via sign language through the window had me cracking up. Sounds like it worked since you’re home again! Can’t wait to hear the rest of that story.
This was such a fun post. Love all the pics you brought back for us. Thanks, Melissa! -Julia :-)
So glad you were able to take a detour to this fantastic place…love the photos…
What a fun trip! I would have loved this place too, I’m hoping hubby & I can get up their to visit his youngest son,who is living in Manhattan and cooking in a restaurant. He said he would show us around the town. I’ve only been once & loved it, dying to go back!
Glad you had a great time…welcome back!
Rhoda
Melissa
Glad to see you had such a nice time in NYC–did you get to Becco?
I have been to ABC before, the wonder of it is almost overwhelming!
:0)

This has definitely made my “things to do next time I’m in NYC” list! Just breathtaking!
Thanks for the fabulous pictures of ABC. It’s always fun to see how they change things. My favorite level is bedding. I always go home with plans to redo my bedroom. The ground floor is wonderful too of course! I rarely buy anything but get plenty of inspiration. Love those chandeliers!
Oh do I love NYC so…and this store IS amazing! I loved it the last time I was there and loved seeing your pictures. They are always changing things so it is fun to see it now!
LOVE the lighting section. Your photos were such fun to see!
Hugs,
Sue
Oh my word! How gorgeous is all that stuff! Thank you so much for taking all the photos and sharing them!
Have a happy Easter!
God bless.
Terri
Hello Melissa,
My heart always beats fast when I want to take a picture in a shop. Well done. The pisture I love most is of the horses and carriage, they are so New York to me! I hope it is OK with you if I include it in my “Spring” post.
Have a lovely Easter week end.
Had a busy day and missed seeing this fabulous post, yesterday. What a wonderful store! I’d love to see this up close and personal!! WOW!
I can’t wait to hear about your airport adventure!
Happy Easter, Melissa!
Pat
I love, LOVE, love ABC Carpet & Home. I check their website every 6 months or so to see if they will start selling their products online. I would honestly take a trip just to go to that store. Thanks so much for sharing these pics with us.
Ooohh, yum! Terrific photos — I’m drooling over some of those chandeliers. Glad you had such a good time!
Happy Easter!
xoxo,
Mary
I can see that I would have a field day here. And I’m hoping to be in NYC in the fall – definitely on my list of must-visits! Sorry to hear about your travel woes, but it must have been amazing to hear your daughter’s choir sing! Happy spring and Happy Easter!
Oh, the fabulousness! I’ve heard of ABC before, but never seen a glimpse of the inside! Maybe someday….
i love the views of the weathered architecture and the creme colored shades of the simple yet elegant furniture.
however i would never ever buy these protected drift wooden objects in fact wondering how friendly ABC truly is towards the environment??? :((
lovely images of nyc ,melissa!!
have a great easter weekend!!
Thank you Melissa for taking us on a tour of a place probably most of us won’t get to see. I am looking forward to hearing about your airport fiasco. I got stopped by security once and was shortly surrounded by a ton of security people asking me all kinds of questions and I had no idea why. Of course, I started crying. Turns out there was a knife in my traveling bag purse caught behind the lining. Why it was there I won’t tell the story right now…but it was totally innocent. Hope you are having a glorious Easter weekend. ~ Lynn
Thank you so much for taking all of those photos! Wow! What a gorgeous store. Such eye candy!
Melissa all I can say is my eyes are popping out of my head!!!
WOW! A decorator’s paradise.
You’re right, the lighting fixtures were fabulous.
Thanks for all the pictures.
Kimberly :)
Wow, what an utterly amazing store! Thanks for sharing and congrats to your daughter for her amazing success. What an experience that must have been!! Huge! xo Terri
I love that store! Great pictures – glad you had a good time except for at the airport – THAT i want to hear!
Hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter!!!
Joni
oh my…absolute gorgeousness! Love the lighttttts!!!!!!!
I was trying to picture you sign languaging through the window and couldn’t help smiling. hahaha…xoxooxx
Melissa,
So now I have another reason to go back to NY to visit! This is one place that I have never been. I will have to make it a point to schedule ABC into my next trip. Carnegie Hall! How exciting for both your daughter and you! Perfect acoustics there. Your pictures are so wonderful that I am drooling! How many hours did you spend in there and what did you bring home? Do share, my dear!
Hugs and love,
Debbie
Holy Moly Mel…couldn’t you just LIVE in that place?!?!?! I would become a part of the “art” and live on the couch or something…it is simply too amazing! Thanks for sneaking th pics for us! They are FAB-U-LOUS!
Now…let’s talk about getting “frisked” at security?!?!? ;)
Take Care,
Melissa
Thank you for reminding me that I really need to stop in to the ABC Carpet & Home in Delray, Florida….not too far from where I live. I don’t know if it’s as large, but the eye candy is equally as impressive from what I recall. ~Janet~
Mannnnnnnnnnn, I definetly love ABC carpets ! It reminds me when I lived in NYC , I spent all my days there
Melissa,
Thanks for the tour! This is an amazing place.
Hi Melissa,
I adore ABC Home…and I’m from NYC and have been there quite a few times! Lovely post. : )
