Because I am not talented in the domestic arts, but I love looking like I am, this project caught my eye. No-sew embroidery from Martha! It just requires cording and glue — I like it! No needles or fancy stitches that might cause injury.
Martha says to use a disappearing ink pen, a marker and graph paper to map out your plan first, but you know, if it did this, I’ll be honest I’d live dangerously and forgo the drawings. Hate me, Martha, but I’m too impatient to plan ahead to get things all perfect. That is where Martha and I part ways (ok, it is not the only place we part ways), I’m not good at the plan ahead part. Although I think a disappearing ink pen might come in handy for that monogram on the shams.
You could use a no-sew embroidery technique like this on everything from bedding (notice the custom looking bed skirt) to curtains to a lampshade!

Note: Thanks to everyone enjoying all the Fall porch posts! You have until the end of the month to join up with the Fall porch party if you want to! There are some fabulous looking porches on those links so be sure to take a peek right here! Have fun!

I’d definitely need the pen! I’m too much of a perfectionist (although I am impatient too!)
Thanks for the lovely idea.

I agree, i am too impatient :)) and of course the minute I washed my creation it would perhaps turn into someone elses initials :))

Hi! I love your new header and the look of the new website all together! It’s fantastic! And I love the no-sew embroidery idea. Have you tried it yet?
HBees inspiring blog post..Ouch
No, I haven’t tried it. I just found it last night but I think it is definitely worth a try. I wouldn’t put it on things you are going to wash, just to be safe. Maybe you could dry clean it. Or try it on something like a lampshade or decorative pillow that you don’t put in the wash!
Leave it to Martha! What an amazing idea! Thanks for sharing!

I would give anything to be able to sew. It’s something I just never learned how to do. My mom is a beautiful sewer – I wonder what happened to me??

That looks GREAT… but how easy is it… hmmm… glue can be awful messy if you’re not an expert or you are not graceful and fluid in your crafty technique… that would be moi! That is why I paint… I can’t burn or disfigure myself… LOL

Okay, this looks like something I may be capable of accomplishing. I can’t do needles, but glue is a definite possibility.

Great Martha idea!! I love personalizing anything and everything. Thanks for letting us know about this technique.
I think this would be a great idea to do on some inexpensive pillows, just to give them some style.

Love the monogramming. I think I’m going to spell out a word, using a letter a pillow–maybe RELAX.
great idea – thanks
I just used some iron on appliques to monogram some napkins. That was really easy! I don’t know about this method – I’d probably try it on something small first. Looks interesting though!

I love this idea. I might have to give it a try. It certainly would be less expensive that having linens monogrammed by a professional! Thanks for sharing:)

What a great idea! I love how simple it is. I’ll have to think about what I could try it on.
I’m with you Melissa we lived in a cute, little cottage like house. Then we built a big house and now I want to got back to small, something in between would be just right. Funny how that happens huh? Great ideas!
Thanks for passing this idea on! Michele
