I love the look of black and it is nice that you can take an old (ugly) piece and make it beautiful with a can of spray paint.

I love decorating with BLACK! I always have! For me, it is the “Anchor” to my rooms. There is something so special about the color BLACK!

As soon as we get some warmer weather, I will be spray-painting a very special 2-tier table black…from the white that we found it! And I can’t wait!

I love the picture from the Inn at Perry Cabin. I checked your “links” and saw that wonderful (but expensive) place. It’s a great place to dream about, though!!!

Over the summer, we painted a large bookcase black . I love how that piece anchors the room. I would never have thought of it without Penny’s ( The Comforts of Home ) suggestion. I’ve just come from Terri’s (Wind Lost) where she’s discussing white and pale colors so this post provides a striking balance.

Thanks for all you do! Hope that the house is coming along steadily…

I love the black …..except maybe for the black stripes in the hall. I haven’t had white walls since the 70′s but I am so loving the white with touches of black! Oh, Honey………

I think the key to working with black is striking the balance with lighter colors. All of the photos above have a wonderful amount of white and light involved. I find them all very inspiring!

Did you read my mind? I am working on a bathroom and contemplating whether or not I can paint some of the woodwork black to go with pale purple walls. I’m tired of blah.

Ooooh, it’s beautiful. I love the entry and stairs by House Beautiful and the back patio by BHG. Absolutely love those! I don’t know if I could go with that narrow of stripes in the foyer, I’d need a little more wide. :) Less busy. Love it!

Love, love, love the b/w bathroom with the diamond wallpaper.. I’d like to do that one day.

My Kitchen is mostly black and white with tan and red as accent colors. There is something about decorating with black that makes the room seem crisp.

I’ve always been drawn to furniture in deep brown wood tones, so it’s hard to introduce black to my decor most of the time. I’ve just redecorated a half bath that is a blank canvas of light buttery yellow. I’ve used black as an accent color and it looks beautiful! Regardless of the choices made, I love to see in any decor one sharp contrast between two colors.

I have been adding black accents to my home lately and I can see such a difference. I just love the contrast between black and lighter colors. It keeps things from looking washed out. Black spray paint is my new best friend!

It’s definitely the way to go — I decorated my guest room and bathroom with black, and so long as it’s done with accents and done tastefully & artfully, it doesn’t look dark or goth. Thanks for the beautiful pictures. They are so inspiring and even inspired one of the next garments I intend to make!

Black grounds the room, draws the eye to places oyu want the occupant to see, adds a bit of drama. I don’t remember when I discovered how wonderful black in a room can be, but I love it and use it in every room. The BHG bathroom with the teal washroom sign looks almost exactly like my downstairs bath. Yummy.

Blessings ~
