Spring arrives slowly in the mountains of western NC. Here are some sure signs that winter is fading into spring – bright yellow forsythia branches, peach blossoms, busy bluebirds building their nests and a pond full of singing spring peepers !!

It is 10 BELOW zero this morning! But, I feel like spring is just around the corner with your listing. I can’t wait to hear the bluebirds soft songs, and Jenny Wren singing all sorts of good morning songs in the trees outside the bedroom windows!

    Happy spring!

I would add the smell of freshly cut grass or searching the farmers market for a beautiful spring bouquet as well as fresh fruits and veggies. Ooooo…now I just want our snow to melt (yes, it snowed in NC on the 1st of March!!!) and our trees to bud! I love the list, Melissa!

I am looking forward to a spring rain that is slightly cool, but not freezing! And to green green grass, instead of this brown dry grass!

I’m even looking forward to trying to get out grass and mud stains from my kids clothes, because they have been outside playing.

The thing I love about Spring most is the sunshine and that the light stays longer at night. Oh and the birds chirping and opening the windows.

Thanks for all the beautiful thoughts today. What a beautiful time of year. I added a list of things for March. The thing I’m really excited for comes in April… seeing my parents! Being away from them is the hardest thing in Germany.

More fun! I did put my little Easter rabbit away for another week or two. Today is nothing like spring and everything like winter so I’ll have to put my imagination on for certain. Some fresh spring flowers are the best and that can only be achieved here with a grocery store visit.

I live in a warmer climate (already 80 degrees here). So things are a little different. But here’s my spring list:
    1. Spring Cleaning-I don’t like doing it, but I love the house when it’s all done! 2. Spring Break-I LOVE when my kids are home with me! 3. The Rennaissance Festival-It comes to town only once a year and it’s running right now through the end of March! 4. Easter 5. Mother’s Day (here that feels more like it’s summer already, but technically…) 6. St. Patrick’s Day 7. Orange Blossoms-they are already driving my allergies bonkers! 8. The seedlings in the garden sprouting up!! 9. Putting Away the bulky Winter coats. 10. Camping and Hiking. Oh the list could go on forever! What a fun idea. Thanks for letting me be a part of it!

One of my favorite things about mild weather is being able to slide into flip-flops and walk out the door at a moment’s notice! Oh, and I’m looking forward to having my patio furniture set up again so I can enjoy the backyard. *Sigh* I know Spring is coming soon, but on a day like this, it sure doesn’t feel like it!

Excellent list! As a Las Vegas resident who strives to live simply, here’s what I would add to the list:

    1. Driving with the windows down.
    2. Wearing peep-toe shoes when people in the rest of the country are cursing their boots :)
    3. Planting my garden by St. Patrick’s Day.

I know your post was written some time ago, but I just added my list from this year . . . 50 things to do while we await spring. I just moved from Seattle (where spring comes early and is long) to Chicago (where spring comes late and is short.) This signs of spring are finally coming, even to Chicago. I saw my first crocus and robin yesterday. Yahoo.

Several years ago I was reading a comment by a friend who had posted on facebook she had just seen her first Robin of the year. I thought what a great way to mark the season. Every spring I look for my first Robin. When I see it I smile and I think of the coming season and of my high school friend.
