I {heart} Striped Rugs: Dash & Albert

I just realized I goofed and I was supposed to post my Beautiful Life Friday post! Instead, I was posting about boys rooms and dogs. Ahhh! I thought tomorrow was Thursday! Gasp, I’ve lost a day! I’m all mixed up. Deep breath. Ok. I’m straightened out now. Sorry for the double posting in one day.

But as long as I am in a dog frame of mind, I want to tell you about my favorite rugs. You see, Dash & Albert are spokesdogs for Dash & Albert Rugs. I love their dogs AND their rugs. Yes, I’ve mentioned my adoration of their rugs before. I love the rugs because of their fresh colors and I especially adore the ones with the stripes. They really put me in a beach house frame of mind, in fact, we have Dash & Albert rugs at our own beach house!

It is Beautiful Life Friday and there is no place I would rather be right now than enjoying a long beach weekend! We normally get to spend at least a week there before the end of the summer, but, we are just 30 days away from our new church launching in Washington. Thus, my scatterbrained mind.

Most of my time right now goes to planning, organizing and designing the church (it is a HUGE undertaking!), and we are very excited (and nervous!) about all that still needs to be done — so I am putting my beach house getaway dreams on hold for the time being. Instead, I’m swooning over my favorite beach house rugs.

For me, my beautiful moment this week occurred yesterday. I was awakened by thunder and rain. For me, living in Phoenix this was so welcome. We haven’t had any rain in such a long time. It’s so good for the outdoor plants and flowers. It was 3:30 in the AM and so I grabbed my blanket and curled up in my chair on the covered back patio so I could listen to the rain. I fell sound asleep there and awakened two hours later. I loved it …the simple things.

Ahhh. Love these rugs. So fresh and fun! I have a blue and green-striped rug in the kids’ playroom and it does keep things cheery.

I wish I had a getaway planned. We chose to do the “staycation” thing this summer to save our money for other things. It was the sensible thing to do, but I really missed having a family trip!

Good luck with all you have to do for your church launch. I can’t even imagine all that goes into such a big undertaking!

We reserved a cabin up in the mountains just yesterday. We will get away in a couple of weeks for a few days. The kids love it and I swear the air is cleaner and easier to breathe there. Maybe it is the lack of fertilizer that is so common here in Lancaster County…lol.
We always say we can smell the difference as we enter the county.

The rugs you featured are very light and happy looking.

I will be thinking of you as you get so close to the big church start. You are right, it is a big deal.

    Blessings!

I love the striped fabric rugs and bolts of fabric. The rugs are so cheery, and would brighten anyone’s day!

Alas, the trip to southwest France is wrapping up — I wish I could stay the rest of the summer…then fall…oh, and onward throughout winter. Dream away…!

    Happy weekend!

*So* inspiring, makes me want to gut the house and start over. I have a warm and cozy (lots of warm colours, African accents) thing going on over here because I live in a cold climate and an old, cozy house. I feel like I am ready for a change (largely thanks to your gorgeously beachy posts) but I always wonder if going too light will not be as warm and inviting once the sun stops shining :(

I hope you are feeling well. Summer seems always to be so far off then when it finally arrives it RUSHES to leave. I can’t believe it is August and we are thinking of fall. (slap myself) i will not get ahead of myself this year… i will savor the days. The Dog days of summer :) Loved your dogs!!

Love D&A striped rugs! So glad they started selling them online. When I get new sofas for our living room I am getting solid ones so I can have a striped D&A rug.

I can’t believe Summer is coming to an end. No more vacations that I know of, but we do still have a week and a half or so before school starts. We’ll just enjoy the nice slow pace before all the craziness begins again!

I think there should be a law against how spookily you seem to know what I’m obsessing about from one week to the next! The post I have up at the moment all started with a hand-woven striped rug the colour of sandy beaches and sea shells! I always have plain sofas so I can have stripey or patterned rugs.

These photos are beautiful, like all of your finds this week. I can feel the inspiration overflowing!

    Hi Melissa,

We took a vacation to Hawaii earlier in the summer but I sort of want to do it again this month before school starts. I wish she had a get-away home. I would be there right now!

Hello all, I just discovered The Inspired Room and well, I’m inspired. :)

I don’t know if this fits the theme but I thought I’d share my beautiful life Friday post about a recipe I just created after trying Kefir (a really healthy probiotic drink) for the first time. My sister-in-law is visiting this week and there is nothing like making a batch of pancakes with family – well, except eating them of course. (the pancakes not the family)

I am hopelessly addicted to your blog! I am obsessed with stripes. They are so appealing. Surprisingly, I don’t have many stripes in my house, but I really should. :)

Also, thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a great day!

I love the colors of these rugs. These colors would be wonderful in an “outdoor” garden room, or in a sunroom. Now I wish I had a sunroom, so I could add some colorful rugs. :)

    Dear Melissa,
Annie Selke is the design talent behind the striped rugs–and many of them were inspired by her fabric designs–available at Calico Corners and shown online at the link below:

Here’s a thought for your Beautiful Life Friday: an artistic friend of mine once observed, “Winter is all color and line, Summer is all color and mass.” Enjoy the season!

I DO love a nice, striped rug! So fresh and fun.

My boys are all back in school now for the second week! It’s out of control how early they have our kids starting these days.

Thanks for swinging by for the giveaway!

Oh BTW- Tamara has her ocean house now! She didn’t sell the other home yet, but she already has the new one decorated via ebay! LOL!!! She is crazy excited.

I really like that blue-and-green striped rug. I like yarn and rag throw rugs in general, although my favorites are ones made from actual rags. I have one hung on my office wall that’s a little tapestry rug made from braided rags.

The blue and green striped on is my favorite – its refreshing – and carefree. The designs remind me of Native American rugs!
