I adore this gilded pumpkin and gourd project. I think it is so pretty! I admired some of these images last year in Country Living but didn’t realize how easy it would be to create these beauties at home! Just a few weeks ago I was introduced to an awesome line of products from Caromal Colours — they make creative projects really fun and doable. And when I heard they were the company that did the gilded pumpkins in Country Living, I knew I wanted to share this project with you.
If you are at all struggling with how to festive up your home for fall, this would be a perfect solution!
Gilded pumpkins or gourds (or pears or pots or ??!!) would take you right on through the holidays! And it looks like a ton of fun to make them.
These beauties would make great gifts too. You can also use this kit to gild other things beside pumpkins and gourds, like decorative items or molding! The options are endless!
A FUN VIDEO DEMONSTRATION!
Check out this video (I posted it at Blissfully Domestic) to see the process of gilding a gourd! It is a fun video, you’ll enjoy it and you’ll learn how to make a great fall garland too!
A fellow blogging friend, Patty, is a distributor for Caromal Colours. She is absolutely delightful and is now a sponsor of The Inspired Room. As you probably know by now, I think one of the best things about blogging is the fact that we women can encourage each other in our home businesses. Times are tough for everyone and so if we can support fellow bloggers to make ends meet I am all for that! Together we can get through these crazy times.
{giveaway is now closed}
Now, because she is extra sweet, Patty is giving away a gilding kit (see above) to help us get in the mood for fall crafting! All you have to do is leave a comment here telling us what type of fall project you might use this gilding kit for if you are the lucky winner! Winner will be selected Friday at 10PM PST.
If you are inspired to check out Caromal Colours products, would you kindly check out Patty’s website for more information and use her code (PattyH) to place your order? That way she will get the credit for your order and you’ll get discounted shipping. You can also become a distributor yourself, so if you are looking for a creative way to bring in some extra income to your family, let Patty know I sent you over!

OH MYYYY! That doorway… with the gold and silver and twigs… sigh… Especially the thing on the door itself!!! Too dreamy! I might have to try those ideas… the house we’re now making over has those exact little windows above the front door. Oh, and while I’m thinking of what uncanny timing The Inspired Room’s ‘inspirations’ have had for me lately… the recent post with the ‘memory jars’ with the sweet hanging tags… My husband found a whole box of those EXACT bottles/jars in the basement that same day. He still can’t figure out why I’m THAT excited about them! :-)
I love the gold leaved pumpkins and I think they would go very well with my Fall decor (plans), I even got the perfect pair of fake ones to try it out on. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that I win (I hope they ship overseas).

I have to say I have use gilding before for artwork and I love it VERY much – it adds so much to paintings. The splash of gold, just that glint adds quite a bit. When you think of gilding you don’t always have to think of making the whole thing gold. Sometimes just adding a sparkle is profound!
I love it very much!

I’d love a basket full of gilded pumpkins in my fireplace… it won’t be cold enough for a fire in there for some time.. so some sparkley pumpkins would be perfect in the meantime.
I’m enamored of that grape-bunched-shaped door hanging in the second photo. I’m about to replace all my mismatched ugly exterior doors with medium-oak colored doors, and a gilded bunch of fruits and gourds would stand out in a nice contrast.
I have several things I’d like to try the gilding on…….pumpkins, pears,
apples……..it’d be beautimous!!

This guilding is beautiful. With the Christmas season upon upon us I envision distressed silver guilding of ornaments, antiqued silver and silver trees with crystals and sparkles, gobs of silver sparkly garland. What a winter wonderland. Pattie
Amazing pics that totally get me in the mood for pumpkins and gourds AND gilding. I’ve never tried this but will have to add it to my project list. I would actually like to do a picture frame and some small gourds. Great post!
Thanks, Melissa, for getting me in autumnal attitude! I would want to use the gilding kit on some of my less-than-stellar terra cotta pots … or try it out on a couple of small baskets. It’s definitely a great way to get items in a festive fall mood!
And thanks to your earlier nesting launch I have all my autumn stuff down from the attic. Not 100% placed, but “in progress.” (Much better than last year’s pitiful last-minute effort the week before Thanksgiving. Geesh.)
I love a metallic touch in my rooms – I think I’d gild some branches and display them in a tall vase, perhaps with a gilded pumpkin or gourd at the base. I think it would look lovely on a mantel or hearth.

This is so beautiful! A few years ago, I sprayed painted a real pumpkin gold and used that in my decor. I was planning on spray painting some pumpkins this fall, but gilding would be so fun too!
I would like to do a centerpiece for our table. Maybe a few pumpkins and some fruit and well…what ever else I find!
I would love to try this!! I was thinking of gilding different sizes of plastic apples I used during my preschool teaching years. Now, the apples could be gilded and I could make a wreath for my daughter or others in my family. It’s been a long time since I’ve done any crafting, but I recall how much I enjoyed it.
These are beautiful! I would love to hang little gilded pumpkins from my dining room chandelier, like in the inspiration photo. I’d also love to do a big pumpkin and sit my little girl on it in her Cinderella dress. Wouldn’t that make a cute photo?
I love this idea. Are those pumpkins and gourds real or fake? Thanks.
So very lovely. I really like how striking it is. I would love a gilding kit so I could bling up my front room. It’s looking awfully brown right now.

As a landscape designer this would be PERFECT to show my clients in a seminar, what a great way to spread the word and get people excited about adding more interest to their homes this time of the year, after all there’s only so many plants… :) Thanks for the great idea!
I have been dying to try this paint… have you used it for anything else? I’m considering painting my kitchen cabinets with it but I am nervous since it is quite a bit more…
