Inspiring Finds &
A Big Surprise REVEALED!

by Melissa @ The Inspired Room on October 22, 2009

Love this (real) board and batten from the Newly Woodwards
completed for a Procrastinator Project!
I think her husband deserves “Husband of the Year”
from The Inspired Room.

I just finished going through every single AFTER photo on the Procrastinator Party. Wow, that was fun! I hope I didn’t miss anyone. I really had a great time seeing what you all did and accomplished while I was busily painting my own cabinet! Felt like we were all neighbors checking in on each other, didn’t it? Love that about blog land!

One sweet lady even started a blog (called Welcome Home) as her procrastinator project! I love it! And because I don’t want to hoard all the best blog commenters in the world to myself, maybe you could take a moment to buzz over here to congratulate her on ending her procrastination and starting a blog…go ahead, I’ll wait….click here to visit her…

Oh, how I adore this idea for a pillow from Bay Buttons…

If you think you can’t get much done in a week, check out this before and after from Leaving Footprints, taken just one week apart!

From unfinished to finished room! Great job!

You ALL did a great job Procrastinators! Next party…January!

Ok, now…for the big SURPRISE!

I’ve had to keep a little secret from you. Due to the public nature of blogs, I was unable to tell you all that just about 30 days ago we got THREE offers on our house in PORTLAND!!!!! Not one. Not two. THREE! Yes. After that ridiculously long summer of silence, I am happy to report that as of YESTERDAY, my house is SOLD. Gone.

Now, we didn’t make as much money as we should have with this sale BUT, we didn’t lose our shirts either so we have to be grateful for what we have. I’m just happy to have it sold before the holidays! Even after all the effort to get it sold, it felt a little bittersweet knowing my house (and kitchen, whahah) has gone to someone else, but I’m excited about our new life here in Washington so it will be OK.

And as of Monday, if all goes according to plan, we will own the house we live in and we can call this chapter of life DONE. You know I”ll be breaking out the paint can as soon as the deed is recorded. Yes I will.

Thanks for all of your prayers, support, comments and encouragement these long months. Truly, I feel like I could use about a month vacation in Hawaii to recover from this year. It was filled with unknowns and stress and hard work! But I am happy to be on the other side and ready to move forward!

So, get ready for many more projects and before and afters around The Inspired Room! All on a budget of, well, zero. Yes, that should be interesting. Let’s see what I can come up with. I’ll be scouring blogland for inspiration, that is FOR SURE!

It IS a beautiful Friday…let’s share what made this week beautiful!

PS. Enjoy the Procrastinator Party AFTER photos here! And, I keep forgetting to send people over to my tumblr…I do add links to it from time to time so check it out!!

So so so happy for you, Melissa! The good Lord came through decidedly (3x over!) in the end. I never doubted the miracle, just enduring is such difficulty!!! We went through the same thing not long ago. Counting our blessings. Just know you are not alone in the losses. I know that some have endured worse. Can’t wait to see the new paint colors. Wish you were here to help me renovate my “new” house – you have such great vision. xoxo Lizabeth http://www.sparkbark.com

Hi, Melissa -
I’m sitting here smiling at the way God works. Just when we think He’s got us on hold, He comes through and we find such relief at the end of His plan. I’m thrilled that your Portland home has sold and that you will be able to finalize everything with your new home. And I can’t wait to see what you have planned to make it your own. I’m SO happy for you and your family Melissa, to finally have this house ordeal behind you and a new nest to really feather now! This has been a year of overwhelming stress for me too and God keeps telling me “just praise me and I will bring victory to every battle.” Every minister I hear seems to be saying that these “storms” are the preclude to many blessings — that they usually precede God’s fresh anointing. Seeing the long-awaited answer for you gives me joyous hope for that fresh season of blessing for us all… Enjoy your Fall settling in! God’s blessings overflow to you…

Oh, now you can buy the house you are in, and paint, and hang things on the walls, and change things around, and…and…and…
What decorating bliss yet to be experienced in the months to come!

Now, to be serious, we have to start praying for the purchase process of the house you are in so that the move will be ‘full circle’ so to speak.

You and your family are in our prayers Melissa!;)

Congrats on your home sale!!! We are in the same boat with a house we need to sell after moving from VA to TN – we jokingly call it our “summer home” but that stress is so incredibly frustrating. That and the need to want to decorate everything in sight without the ability to do so! Honestly that is part of the reason I started blogging – I keep finding all this great stuff online and have no place to put it! So again – congrats!

Thanks for the shout-out. That just made my Friday. =)

And, I let hubby know he was nominated for Husband of the Year. Color him thrilled. He cannot wipe the smile off his face.

Congratulations on the sale of your house. That’s wonderful!! It sounds like you’re enjoying your new location. If and when the day ever comes that we sell this house that we’re currently in, I know I’ll be so sad. To me, your home is a member of your family. As long as the new family that buys it is a good one it’s a little easier. I just discovered your blog recently and I look forward to catching up on past posts. :)
