Creative Memories

I have sweet memories of holidays with our family. One of the things I love to do at Christmastime is sit with my kids and look through our family Christmas album. It is filled with memories of when our kids were small and the holidays were magical for them. We have photos of our kids by the tree each year, photos of them in their Christmas jammies and of course photos of all the fun on Christmas morning.

Where does all the time go? I am so glad I preserved all those memories in our album!

About fifteen years ago I was invited to my first Creative Memories workshop. That Saturday morning, a couple of friends and I sat around a kitchen table and learned the value and fun of documenting life in a scrapbook.

As a mom of two young girls, I was immediately inspired by the idea of preserving my family’s stories. After creating only two pages in my very first scrapbook, I became a Creative Memories consultant. I spent many enjoyable years teaching the value of scrapbooking and holding fun workshops for family and friends. It was a life changing experience for me in many ways.

Fast forward fourteen years or so and Creative Memories continues to inspire women to gather together to laugh, share precious memories and preserve their family’s stories in scrapbooks. I still love their mission and products and am very excited about some new and innovative things Creative Memories has introduced!

I agree! Love having my photos on disks but there is nothing like holding a scrapbook in your hands!

I do love Creative Memories. I have a couple of Albums in process.
Time is my enemy when it comes to scrapbooking.

I use my CM scissors to trim the wicks in all of the hundreds of candles I make. They are just the right size and stay sharp…unlike my kitchen shears!

I began to scrapbook a few years ago and have one for each of the kids, plus a vacation album, a christmas album…etc. But since adopting Maggie I am about 2 years behind…having 5 kids sent me over the edge! I have been printing my blog into books, so I am preserving something!!

My first scrapbook was of my honeymoon … seems like so many years ago! Now I have a bookshelf filled with them. These days my seven year old scraps with me – I’m always a year off, so I just love reminiscing with her while we pull our pages together. Great memories being shared and created!

Although technology is wonderful in that it lets us store lots of pictures on discs that take up hardly any room, I don’t think you can replace real photographs. There is something so special about piling on the sofa and going through old photo albums. It just isn’t the same when you look at them on the computer screen.

I’ve done a wedding album and one for each of my kids’ first years plus a page for each year and birthday past that. Very doable. Of course, my youngest turned one in October and I haven’t started on his album yet, maybe in January!

My girls both LOVE to look through “their” albums to see themselves as babies. And I find it relaxing to create and look at the books, too!

I have an album for each of my children to document the special events in their lives. I also keep a family album with all of the things we do together from holidays to trips to silly game nights at home. I sold Creative Memories for a little bit and love their products!

    Happy Holidays!

We have put together several family photo albums. Several years ago, I put together a Christmas album and we keep it on the coffee table during the holidays to look back on years past. It is a lot of fun.

Melissa, I am so glad you shared this. I have been a scrapbooker since I was a child, but became “official” when my grandson was born. I love my scrapbooks, and I love making them. I only wish I could find more time.

Thanks for commenting on my blog – ThankfullyThrifty! We don’t have a “family scrapbook,” but every year for our anniversary I make a scrapbook (sometimes via Shutterfly) for my hubby to recap our latest year of marriage. :)

I love my scrapbooks. And so do my children. At Christmastime, I like to pull out the Christmas albums and leave them out for perusal. There are always stories to be told and explanations made to spouses. I have let scrap booking go for the time being, but I plan on getting back to it someday!

I love scrapbooks, but tend to get mine stuck inside my computer! I’m thinking about making a DVD of digital photos and video clips for the grandparents for xmas this year. I wish I had the patience to do a hard-copy scrapbook! For now, I store photo’s in boxes so that “one day” I’ll have time to do it right! Thanks for the inspiration!

I used to be great about putting photos in albums as soon as I got them developed, until I found out the magnetic albums were harmful to the photos, so now I need to redo those, plus the fifteen years or so of photos since that discovery. Those are at least in photo boxes by date. I recently have the 80 years worth of photos that were my parents, that I want to scrapebook and also scan for my siblings. Some are in the same type of Magnetic albums, others just loose. It is overwhelming to think of doing all this, but am excited by the prospect. I have only created one scrapebook after a trip with my sister about 10 years ago. It turned out well, but was very time consuming. I have alot of supplies which I purchased over the years, but under the circumstances what’s the best way to get started? I lost my job 6 months ago, so will have some time, but not much money. Help! BTW love your blog. It is so inspiring.

My friend and I get together every two weeks to scrap. I have some lovely albums that I have presented to my family and children to showcase so many events. After inheriting boxes of photos of unknown people when my parents died, I am trying very hard to get them labeled etc to make sense for future generations.

I went to a Creative Memories party once and bought the neatest photo organizer for my mom. I gave it to her as a Christmas gift about three years ago and she was instantly IN LOVE. Their products are wonderful!

A Creative Memories party introduced me to scrapbooking and I am still slowly working on 3 large scrapbooks, one for each of my boys and one for my niece who has always been their playmate, of their early years. I love that they will have these when they are older.

I’ll have to check out the online CM.Thanks.

I do scrapbook but I haven’t done anything since May. We have moved across the country and it has consumed my life. We just got settled in a few weeks ago. I really document a picture. I like to do one photo and tell a story and embellish a little. I will have to check out their website.

I have several scrapbooks, many dedicated to Marcus, our teen. Two of our renewal ceremony. I like the idea of a family based scrapbook.

I love Creative Memories, too. I have several albums in progress because I’m switching over from the old, ‘icky’ albums I did many years ago. I’m nearly finished with the redo of my wedding album and hope to have it all completed by my January anniversary – thirty eight years! My dear little mother took my Christmas pictures through the years since I’ve been married, and her pictures of my children at Christmas through the years and made a gorgeous Christmas album that is a coffee table/conversation piece every year. This will be the last year we can add to this album so will have to get another album and start fresh in another year. I love sitting and looking at the memories that are saved in my albums.

My husband actually met with a Creative Memories consultant several years ago, and started a wedding/family album for my anniversary gift! I have started albums for each of our two girls, but I am not consistent in adding to them. I do love the idea of preserving memories, but have a hard time setting aside time to work on them. . .

Each of my kids has their own scrapbook & we have a ‘family’ one as well. I have been making little paper bag albums for each Christmas season for the last 3 years and I *love* it. I usually have so many pictures from the holidays that I would make several scrapbook pages, so instead, I combine them into their own scrapbook. We store them with the rest of our Christmas decorations and it’s so fun to pull them out each year & reminisce.

Hi! I just found this post via your facebook page. I love, love, love Creative Memories!!! I have done at least a hundred albums, for our family, for gifts, and for hire! I love everything about traditional scrapbooking, especially with all the new Creative Memories papers and supplies that make it so fast and easy. My kids also love pulling out their albums and looking through them. I also LOVE digital scrapbooking! That is so do-able for many people. CM has easy-to-use software, gorgeous artwork, and professionally-designed layouts to drop pictures into. I have loved working with CM products as a consultant for 12 years, now. I started for the discount, then enjoyed getting all my products for free, and now my business is an economic necessity for our family. I love that I help others with meaningful projects. I have a link to my CM site on my blog. Blessings!
