No More Winter Blues: <br>20 Winter Home Tips

Cozy Winter Room — House Beautiful

Just a few months ago, back in the fall, we did a series of posts here on The Inspired Room called 20 Fall Nesting Tips. The series was based on my 20 Little Things series…finding 20 things to be happy or motivated about. Those lists really work for me! There is no scientific research to prove it, but it is fun anyways.

Now that we are into that slightly BLAH season here between the sparkle of the holidays and the new hope of sunshine and warmer days in spring, it is time to introduce our new series … 20 Winter Home Tips. Let’s celebrate winter!

It is so easy to get depressed in the winter and kind of lose your way a bit, pining away for spring.

So in the interest of cheap therapy, let’s enjoy winter to its fullest, shall we?

Let’s think of ways to enjoy winter! I’ll be sharing 20 Winter Home Tips periodically in between other posts.

Then on Fridays in January for our “Friday Linky” I hope you will link up or share comments for Winter Home Fridays — anything to do with winter decorating, projects, cleaning, organizing or a winter emphasis at home.

But before I share my first winter tip, I have to excuse myself from blogging to put away my Christmas decorations. The tree finally came down!  {applause}

Gorgeous room! Cozy indeed! I want to live there forever! I’d swap out the roses with some hydrangeas, but really that’s all I’d change :)

Can’t wait to see what you come up with. I’m sure it will be fantastic!

And we just took down the last Christmas tree too. I’ve got a few odds and ends here and there to put away. But it’s still such a relief!

Can’t wait to see the tips . . . I need them. SOOOOOoooo tired of winter and the “blah” look my house has now that Christmas is over.

And, WOW, I love the room in that photo. Wish I lived there!

Beautiful! And my Christmas stuff will “ceremoniously” come down today — it’s Epiphany! Second year of waiting until January 6 to couple it with the 12th day of Christmas. Looking forward to your winter inspiration ’cause it’s so true that this time of year sort of gets lost…

Well, I can think of one reason to love winter. Getting our tax refund in February! This year, we are ripping out all of our nasty carpet and linoleum, and are installing wood and hex tiles. I CAN’T wait!
Hope you have a great day! Beth.

I’m cracking up at how much this post relates with the one I just wrote last night!

“It is so easy to get depressed in the winter and kind of lose your way a bit, pining away for spring.”

    So true!

    Looking forward to Friday, friend!

YEAH! What a great idea because you could have been describing me in that paragraph. I’m thinking about Valentine’s Day now, and after that I’d be bumming. Let’s get cozy and crafty together this month!

Love that photo you posted. I guess my decorating style is fall and winter… no matter the season. :) Must be my obsession with browns, oranges, blacks, whites and such.

Looking forward to the tips! I get so antsy for spring right after the holidays! I used to be able to get out and start getting the beds ready but not here in Colorado!

One tree down – 3 to go! (I think I might have to rethink this tree in every room thing!)

I have to say that I am excited about this series. I just moved from Florida and I am to the north and in for my first ‘real’ winter. We have already had snow 4 times and we have lived here for 2 months. We are in for around 5 inches tomorrow. I am not use to having to wear boots, hats, and coats. We haven’t seen sunshine in quite a few weeks. That part is really hard for me. I am hoping this WILL be my cheap threapy:)

Love to stop by. You are always such a breath of fresh air!

This room makes me actually WANT to put my desk in the living room! Then lounge and read and forget my to-do list.

Oh, thank you! On the desk in the living room, seriously I have been contemplating that idea. It would force me to keep it clean and maybe I’d be more organized. Or not.

Oh good. Goodie, goodie, good! I totally have the post holiday blahs. Ugh. And my house looks plain and boring after putting all my Christmas stuff away! Lol.

I hate the winter blahs, so I like to sometimes get a few in expensive flowers as a bright and cheery pick me up.. flowers or chocolate can do the same but flowers last longer without the extra calories. I really enjoy your blog. It has given me many great ideas.
