Inspiration: Transom Windows <br>& Painted Wood Walls

inspiration::

I enjoyed Tim’s post last week about exterior elements being used as interior walls. Such a great way to bring some character to a space.

Speaking of exterior-inspired walls, I ran across this photo at Southern Living and I LOVE it. I am so into those walls! And love the transom windows too. In fact, the whole house is really nice, go check it out!

What is inspiring you today? I’m trying to get back into the swing of things after Blissdom but mostly I have just felt like taking a nap. It was so great to be with everyone, but I need to get back to my real world (being alone with my computer, lol).

What’s inspiring me today? The pots of tulips and crocuses at the grocery store – a sure sign that spring is not too far off.

Love the beautiful nuetral tones in that pic. Great panel walls (if that’s a way to describe them). I am currently inspired to switch my deep red curtains in the living room to cream/white. I think it will lighten the room a lot and look more elegant. We’ll see when I get around to it.

I think I’d feel just like you if I’d gone to Blissdom. Glad you enjoyed it.

Love that picture! Those are some of my favorite color tones!
I’m trying to get back into the swing of things too. We have a “snow day” today, and it’s hard to get stuff done with four boys running around the house.
Oh well, I think I’ll enjoy a cup of hot chocolate!
So great to connect with you at Blissdom!

Today I’m inspired by blank cream walls and a beige carpet! We’ve been looking at a few new rental properties somewhere for the next 6months to a year, I’m trying to imagine where all my stuff would go in the house and trying to work out which one would work best for us! Nervous time but exciting too.

I love that door and those walls. What I wouldn’t give to just do that to my house.

Today I’m inspired by my little guy. It was nice to have a “Mommy” break during Blissdom, but I sure am glad to be back with him, snuggling on the couch.

I love any type of texture on the walls. I love SL magazine. Being in the north (after being tranferred) I really enjoy receiving my magazine in the mail!

What is inspiring me today? The lovely white snow that is falling right now. I just opened the front door to take a picture and you couldn’t hear a thing and it was so beautiful and calming.

What’s inspiring me is the fact that we have been cooped up inside our house since Thursday. I am livining the snowmageddon in Baltimore.

It has inspired me to focus my cooped up energy on some household projects I’ve been ignoring. Fun stuff like archiving my old files so I can file the stuff that is overflowing my “to be filed” basket, laundry (and actually putting it all away, tackling my clutter pile in the kitchen, etc.

I hope to get my kids involved by asking them to find toys they no longer want and starting a charity bag.

Basically it’s an opportunity to do all of the house puttering I never seem to have time for.

My Mother-in-law’s sun porch was simply added over the exterior siding. The former owners had left it the original color. Georgia saw it differently as we painted it a soft blue. The room now has a spa like feeling. It is so wonderful to be in that space with the painted siding.

I’ll bet you really ARE tired–you crossed a couple of time zones to get to BlissDom.

I love that photo from Southern Living. I agree with you about transom windows.

Have fun transitioning back to life at home!

Right now, my mocha coffee getting me through another day of snowed in weather and the pile of oranges in my McCoy lusterware bowl. The bowls are all nestled together on my coffee table and my kids keep asking to eat them. But they are so pretty! Guess I will give in. Inspired for a moment.

I’m inspired right now by organized spaces — whether it’s just basement storage or a beautifully organized laundry room. I think it’s because nothing in my house feels organized right now.

My husband and I are completely redoing the storage space in our basement, changing what goes where and how it’s organized. But right now – in the middle of everything – it’s SO chaotic. It’s actually zapping my motivation!

I love transom windows but sadly they don’t work any place in our home. I’m inspired by the longer daylight hours which means spring is coming soon!

Even though I live in Montana, I picked up a SL a couple of weeks ago, and yes, I love this house, also! But I bought the magazine because of the Valentines Day Lemon Butter Cookies on the cover and I am inspired to make them today , to warm our hearts as well as our home, since it is below zero out this morning.

What’s inspiring me today is the wonderful sunshine! After what seems like days of nasty weather, it is so pretty shining on the melting snow!

I love those transom windows, by the way…anything that lets more light into a room gets my vote!

The soft, white blanket of snow outside my window.

The warm golden glow from the fireplace.

The quiet house because all the babies are tucked away in bed for naps.

I love, love, love shiplap walls! I live in the Savannah, GA area and it is very popular down here. My husband is a carpenter and does this in numerous homes, but no matter how hard I try I can’t get him to do it in our house. What do they say, the cobbler’s kids have no shoes? :)
