Inspired By: Yellow

by Melissa @ The Inspired Room on February 11, 2010

I love this beautiful yellow kitchen. Love.

And I ADORE these gorgeous yellow wood walls.

Do you think I might be in need of a little sunshine? I think so.

This warm shade of yellow is just YUM. Even if you don’t have all this fancy woodwork, walls painted with some hint of yellow in them can make your home GLOW.

What Inspired YOU this week?

Feel free to link up your Inspired By post, or share in the comments!
All I ask is that you give a link directly to your post (not a home page or I will have to delete it, because people WILL click on these links six months from now) and if you want to be nice you can link back to The Inspired Room on your post. And for your own traffic benefit, put a very descriptive but appropriate title in MckLinky (like Inspired By: YELLOW!).

PS. I finally remembered to put a couple of new posts on my “Behind the scenes Channel” (which means it doesn’t go out through the RSS feed but is on my blog as a little extra behind the scenes info for you!)

Here are the Behind the scenes! links to check out: “Home Bloggers” and “…on being insecure

Your website inspires me. Seriously. It makes me want to do more around the house & there’s plenty to work on… probably starting with changing out those darn lace curtains. :)

Yellow IS an inspiration. Our playroom, which is where I write my blog, is painted a yellow called hay stack (Benjamin Moore). In the house we lived in before this one, I had the same color in the family room. I loved the soft, warm yellow so much that I couldn’t leave it behind.

every week i am inspired by so many things! design, color {love yellow} food, but this week it was looking back at my kids’ photos. yes, a mother’s pride but sometimes it hits you like a ton of bricks of how lucky we are to be mothers. they & the photo session inspired me greatly.

p.s. i’ll be dreaming of all things yellow this evening. :)

That might be my new kitchen color…I’ve been thinking yellow.
You are right, it is gorgeous. But I do not have woodwork other than a chair rail. Maybe some bead board is in order.

Oh, Melissa, this yellow really is inspiring! The thought of sunshine is really nice right now. And I so appreciated your post about insecurity, too.

Melissa, I messed up my link–I tried to link to my Valentine’s post today, but the first time I accidentally entered the wrong URL. I hate to ask you this, but could you delete the first Imparting Grace link I entered? (I think my links are#31 and #32 above; #31 is wrong.) I hate that I missed this up, because my Valentine’s post is kind of a testimony of what I’ve learned about love. I guess I was nervous as I was posting it!

Thanks for all the inspiration here!

Ooooh, yeah, we are big fans of yellow around here! When we built this house, we had them go ahead and paint the walls in both the kitchen and living room a warm yellow color. I <3 it!

I love those pics you’ve posted, too, Melissa! That kitchen cabinetry is to die for!!

That kitchen is really pretty. I have never seen anything like the woodwork on the front of those cabinet faces. And the ceilings in both of those rooms are awesome! I am in MAJOR need of some SUNSHINE!!! And here I am waiting on the Southern Blizzard to come sweeping through this afternoon…. (I’ll believe it when I see it….)

My dad painted my kitchen yellow for me last July and I absolutely love it!!!!!! We moved in our house 6 1/2 years ago and had never painted the kitchen. It was some shade of green-blue but it worked with my decor at the time. I got really tired of it and my dad offered to paint it. Now I love being in there!!! It’s decorated in pineapples and it is now one of my favorite rooms in the house!!!!

Yay for yellow! We painted our living room and bedroom the same shade as the kitchen up there. I LOVE IT. I love it. It is seriously the most cheerful color, especially since the sun seems to be on a shining hiatus. It’s so warm and cozy and just happy.

I’m fascinated by that kitchen photo. I’m looking at the yellow behind the oven. Is it yellow tile? Is it brick painted yellow? Is it old tile that has been painted yellow? Or is it white tile that just is reflecting the yellow?

Regardless, it looks lovely.

Lately I am inspired by green. Being so inspired by this blog, I decided to spend some time surfing, trying to figure out what style I am. And I fell in love with green all over again. It’s my favorite color, but the only place in my home you can find it is the full bathroom (teensy in this 100 yr old house). Now I want to find a place to bring in green. Sigh. :)

I am finally getting my art room painted (paint has been purchased since early fall). It is a very soft yellow called “Provence Cream.” As we stand now, (since it is being painted over deep burgundy) it is going to take at least four more coats. Yes, we bought the paint with KILZ mixed into it, on the recommendation of the fellow at Home Depot. He assured us it would do the job in two coats. No dice. I am just glad it is getting done, and I will soon be able to move out of the corner of my dining room. Elbow room, elbow room, got to, got to get me some elbow room…

Blessings,
Christi
