Oh my. These WILL be made at my house this week.
And my daughter WILL say… “those aren’t even pretty.”
And I WILL say… “I LOVE THEM!”
And she will say, “You don’t even know what’s pretty. When I am a mom, I will paint all the walls in my house pink and purple and black… and anything else that my kids want me to do. And my Easter eggs will NOT look like that.”
And I WILL say, “You’re gonna be sooooo cool.”
:-) Thanks for the link to Rhoda’s un-cool eggs.

Wow, I just clicked over and: These are way easier than I thought they would be AND they aren’t Rhodas. :-) Southern Living vs. Southern Hospitality. details.

We are going to silk dye some and color some the old fashioned way- with PAAS, lol.

Yes, we are and we have plain old PAAS! I love this, I’m going to have to try it! So pretty :)

Oh-so-pretty and oh-so-springy! Love them! I can’t wait to color Easter eggs this week, but I’m guessing ours will have splatter paint and Transformers stickers. Oh well! :)

I did this – this past weekend. :-) Blew the eggs out and hung them with ribbon on pussy willow branches in a French bucket. Lovely. :-) Starting with brown eggs gives an even richer color.
I *love* these, too! And how easy!!! Thanks for the idea!
These are beautiful! Speckled eggs are my favorite. I just put some out this weekend in a glass pedestal dish on a bed of reindeer moss. I’ve never thought to dye eggs with tea though. I will definitely have to give that a try!
You know I’ve never been inspired to color eggs, I either think they are ugly (think drugstore dye variety) or I don’t have the patience (think ukrainian wax decorated eggs, so beautiful and intricate). These I love and it looks like I might actually be able to do it!!

Absolutely beautiful! Definitely going to have to try this!
Love them! I am dying at Angie’s comment. I was that exact little girl and I’m pretty sure I hurt my Mom’s feelings a time or two.

Have you tried using onion skins? Just pour some hot water over onion skins and steep the eggs for a couple of hours. Red onions give a terrific purplish colour. And the eggs look marbled. These are too gorgeous and easy not to try.

HOW could I not have just thought of this on my own? What a great idea!!!
I painted and decoupaged some paper mache eggs. Stop over and see them, you may want to give it a try too. My other idea was to paint the paper eggs blue and speckle them brown like you have here. Great minds think alike right?!

Melissa,
I think the reason these draw me in so much is that they look like natural bird eggs…a gift from God!!! Where the concept came from… :)
Thank you for bringing us back to the amazing natural beauty!!! I love those!!! Happy Holy Week!!

Beautiful! I love the simple and more natural look of these. I wasn’t going to color eggs this year because my kiddos are–in their minds– too old for coloring eggs.

I adore the way this carton of blue speckled eggs looks! Kind of like antique splatterware tin coffeepots? Way cool. My niece is taking her kids to the White House Easter Egg Hunt this weekend and I’ll bet the eggs on the lawn will not be THIS pretty! Love your blog. :)

Beautiful!!! I don’t have small children anymore, either, but love to color eggs. I colored some a couple of years ago using red cabbage, which turned the eggs blue, much like your photo, but it takes a lot longer.
Question: You just use water and the food color drops, no vinegar?
