Sweet Escape: A White Farmhouse Dream Home

You know those days where you had things all planned out and in your mind the day was going to go so well, but then this and that happened and the day just turned out entirely differently than you expected? Yeah. Like those days when your husband loses his iPhone and you spend the whole day looking all over town for it and calling to report it lost it because it is probably gone forever. Those days.

Sweet Escape: A White Farmhouse Dream Home

So, what can you do with those sorts of days except to ESCAPE to the internet looking for something beautiful to bring a little lift to the otherwise crazy day! Instead of what I originally had planned for today, prior to the iPhone incident, I thought we would spend some time drooling over this 2010 Green Home from HGTV. I’d seen the pictures online earlier, but hadn’t taken the time to properly enjoy them, so let’s do that, shall we?

Sweet Escape: A White Farmhouse Dream Home

I always stretch my design appreciation when I study pictures. I sometimes see things I wouldn’t have thought to do and it makes me think outside of my normal decorating box. Or, I see things I would have done myself, but thought they were “outdated” or I hesitated for some reason, and then suddenly I feel empowered by my own instincts!

This is a lovely house. I am not sure that it is my absolute favorite dream house ever, but you just can’t argue with the timeless beauty of a white farmhouse. They are all good. I would not complain about winning this house one teeny bit. And this one has some lovely features. I of course adore all the wood and architectural chunkiness (my favorite kind of architecture, the chunky kind).

This bathroom is fun, I love the light from the windows and I really like the touches of black.

I can’t help but swoon when I see bookcases in a white farmhouse kitchen. A great combo. Dreamy. The vertical wood on the walls (and the ceiling!) give just enough interest without needing many accessories. More and more I am feeling the love for “less is more.” I need less clutter and less STUFF.

What a happy space! A blue wood ceiling? Oh how I love. Lately I’ve been really thinking about having my own office again. I’d have to do some room juggling but it might just happen! There is something so inspiring about a fresh and pretty dedicated work space all your own.

And I’m loving the painted treatment on the walls and the crazy fun upholstery on the chair. Let’s look at another angle so we can see more of the walls!

The red white and blue is really striking and fresh!

Well, hello lovely sliding barn doors that open up to an amazing BBQ.

I hope you enjoyed the tour as much as I did, and if you want to win the house (and why not give it a try, you never know…someone will win!) you can enter the contest here!

You can find many more photos of this lovely home right here!

I’ll be back later with the Friday Inspired By linky! How is it possible that it is already Thursday?

I’m particularly fond of the red countertop in the kitchen. It’s so fun.

I also love that little red and blue sitting room.

But I hadn’t seen that cool little grill garage. That is cool.

Hello there! I have become a daily visiter to your blog for about a month now, and I must confess it has been an amazing discovery for me. Because, to make a long historie short, I am from Costa Rica – Central America -and just fell in love with the country style, actually I am leaning more to the “white farm house look” (due to your influence by the way haha!) but the issue is that when I get out of the computer and walk into my living room, all I see is a tropical setting and it makes me wonder if it is requested to live in a country with the regular four seasons to bring them inside the house and enjoy home decor the way you do? And also (here goes another retoric question) is it possible to have a country hen and a made of stone Buda in the same room? I guess that should be called TRANSITION…meanwhile I want to thank you for opening a window and letting the light come in to my home.

I love the house!! Of course there are a few things that I wouldn’t have done myself, or that I would change if I won it, but it is such a beautiful classic house. And the location? LOVE it! I would want to win the house just for the location. :)

I am going there on June 22 with some of my Real Estate/ decorating buddies. Should be fun. Sorry, no pictures are allowed or I would get some good shots for my blog.

Great home! I can’t stop looking at the bead board ceilings. I want to do that to cover up popcorn. I love the light over the table. Oh and the colored tape on the blinds. I have those blinds on almost all my windows. They were here when we moved it. I’m wonder how I can just add some to my blinds to change them up. Some I want to swap out for bamboo ones but this might be a good idea in the mean time. Any one know how to attach it so it fold with the blinds?

There’s certainly a lot to love in this house. (I don’t love those blue walls, but that’s a minor point easily solved if I should ever win it. :D )
Oh that bbq…wow. I don’t even like bbq, but I like that. A lot.

Hi! I’ve been a subscriber for a few months and this is one of the places I escape to. My husband and I toured this HGTV green home in person last Saturday. It is gorgeous! We’ve been writing a series of posts about each space that include details (paint colors, where to buy, etc) and a slew of photos that I took myself. So far we’ve shared details about the exterior, kitchen, living room, dining room, master bedroom suite, and kids bedroom. We’ll be covering the remaining rooms and art work very soon.

You’re more than welcome to stop by Welcome Sunshine Home, submerse yourself in this beautiful green home, and keep on dreaming! :)
