Inspired By: Fun New Things

So, I have some new little things around the house to show you, but I am going to have to put a few of them off until next week because I didn’t get time to do all the photos I needed (after the whole time consuming ‘iPhone incident’, which ended with me finding hubby’s phone in the car. Yeah.)

But, just for fun I’ll show ya a few things today! I apologize for the poor lighting.

First of all, I was able to hang my new Vintage Key Plate up on my powder room door (because the powder room is “Four” for guests? I think that works, right?)! The cool thing about the way I hung it is once I get sick of being all trendy with my typography, I can easily pull it off the door (I hung it with those Command removable hanger things that stick on but come right off, no nails were needed).

Remember, if you want your own Vintage Key Plate, you can get it from my OpenSky Shop! I LOVE mine!! They are absolutely beautiful.

After being inspired by the HGTV Farmhouse, I decided to hang up my farmhouse style zinc board! I put it near our front closet where my son keeps his backpack. I am going to use it for reminders, such as what is happening at school, so he can make sure he has the right supplies or shoes for the day.  And to remind myself that I am a chaperone for the field trip so I will actually show up for duty. Is it sad that I need a zinc board to remind myself of stuff like that? Yeah. It is.

Have I told you how much I adore this board? The shape is so fun and the weight and feel of zinc is a fun change from the usual chalkboard paint. You can write on it just like a chalkboard. I use chalkboard pens (like Mary Jean does!) but regular chalk works well too and it looks more charming sitting on the ledge.

If you want your own zinc board, you can buy one here at my Shop! And if you order one from me by Sunday night, I have a little something special for ya! Just let me know if you buy one so I can get you your surprise.

I pulled back a little into the entry so you can get your bearings here. It is easy to show only little snippets of things, but I think it is fun to feel like you have actually BEEN at someone’s house because you get to see more of the layout! (And, now you can see that my lantern is still candle-less).

The bathroom door (with the 4 on it), is just around the corner to the right from the entry.

If you kept going past the bathroom towards the big M (I guess I need all those typography things for landmarks so we don’t get lost in our house), you’d be in the breakfast room side of the kitchen. The door to the right of the zinc memo board is the garage. And I am not going to show you the garage. Just because. But if you turned around right now, you’d see this! The entry and the slowly being painted handrails.

I can’t believe I’m first – that’s a first for me! I love your zinc chalk board, especially the pretty shape along the top. I have plans to make a blackboard this weekend and even went and bought the paint for it.

Thanks for hosting this link party.

Thanks for the link! I too lost my iPhone in my car a few weeks ago for 1/2 a day! I know the panic feeling. I even had to use the Red Phone in Target as I tried to find it! Funny how there are no pay phones around anymore. Have a great weekend!

I really like all the letters and numbers you’re using. Decorating a new house in the midst of real life busyness is hard – I’m in the middle of it, too. Life doesn’t stop to let me decorate.

Melissa, I’m like a broken record, but I just love how the accessories pop against that neutral (non-swine) background! Your entry is so pretty – the bench cushion – love it! The big M, the #4….so cool.

    Hi Melissa,
Happy Friday to you! I have linked up again, thank you for the opportunity. I have a question about your linky though. I can’t put in more than 10 letters in the description box. Obviously other people can. Am I doing something wrong. 10 letters is terribly short.

I had to chuckle at your landmark comment, Melissa! I love your M and the 4 on the powder room door. I love those Command Hooks ~ no committment! I also love that bench in your entry and I’m guessing all the walls have been painted(?). It’s looking good!

I do look forward to seeing even more of your house!

And may I say that the service at your Open Sky shop is really great? My orders came so quickly. I hope it’s turning out to be a good thing for you.

I linked up today to a little color inspiration. . . a “tour” of my old house. It was fun to be inspired by seeing all those colors. Thank you for hosting!

Hello sweet Melissa – thank you for hosting another fun week and allowing me to link up my post, Beautifully Broken. I have been inspired by broken shells this week! Love the little additions you made in your home. That zinc board is so neat! And one day I will own a vintage key plate to hang in my kitchen. I’ve had my eye on them!

    Blessings,
    Marie

I love that you have to remind yourself to go on the field trip. That’s so me. I forgot to go to the spring concert this week. Should of had a zinc board. Your post on just starting and doing a little bit of a project at a time was inspiring. I’m getting started on something today as a result. Love your blog.
