I enjoyed looking at this before and after porch makeover from Southern Living. Such a great transformation! I really love seeing how a space can be transformed with a few simple furnishings and accessories. Stuff like this inspires me to be brave, even when faced with a blank slate! Layer by layer, it can get better!
Have you started working on your yard, porch or containers yet?
If the sun would come out I’d be way more inspired to work outside.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend! Let’s link up what inspired us this week!
Oh, and I am going to contact the winners from last weekend’s giveaway so if you win, you’ll get an email from me shortly! Sorry for the delay in announcing the lucky winners!
I just redid my patio! Love the pic you show above. It is amazing how much warmer you can make a space feel with just a few touches. Thanks for hosting!

I am in the PNW also, and the lack of sunshine has completely sapped any motivation I had to get outside and make the most of my outdoor space, so I can totally relate!
That is one welcoming porch, and no, I’ve barely stepped into my backyard except to do some spring clean up. Plants intimidate me!

I wish I had a porch! I do in my dream house! Which is getting smaller all the time by the way!
Thanks for hosting!

I bought a new patio set for my deck and my husband cleared away the firewood pile. I’m going to borrow a pressure washer to clean the wood and maybe add a few pots if i can find some el cheapo at yard sales. right now all we have out there is the patio set, my grill and a large aluminum tub for shoes.

We have been working on the outside of the house – working in the gardens and repaint fences and arches. We also have been adding some fun touches as well.

I’ve been a reader for a long time and wanted to tell you how nice your blog is.
I have a beautiful 10 year old home we built to look like a 1910 Craftsman House. BIG front porch.
But, it seems we have a prevailing 30 mile an hour wind and it blows everything off the porch. It is even dangerous.
My dream home has an empty porch and I am starting to accept it.
I can see people walk by and say to each other…”I wonder why that lazy woman doesn’t decorate that beautiful porch”!!!
Thanks for the great pics!
Oh no! Maybe you could bolt stuff down so you can have stuff there but not risk your life!!! Eek!!
Thank you so much for your kind comment!
Melissa
oooh it’s gorgeous!

It is indeed time to start working on the screened in porch. It’s such an enjoyable place to sit and chat or just relax. Yep — gonna start looking in that direction next! Thank you for hosting!

I love beautiful porches. I have a glassed in porch that is nice and extremely functional as a sort of entry way. But I do truly long for an open porch like this, a place to sit with lemonade and watch the world go by. This one is beautiful.

I’m in total porch mode right now & have 2 posts in the hopper about it. This time of year always gets me thinking about better ways to enjoy the outdoors. Love the B&A with this one!
Hi Melissa,
Thanks for hosting these inspiring parties! I really enjoy reading everyone’s post and I really do get touched and inspired by them!

Loved reading yesterday’s post and so wanted to comment. What a wonderful way to be of help to one another and it sounds like fun, too!
That porch is such a beautiful space. It turned out beautifully. And I see so many places that I want to visit in your link list above. Guess I’d better get going!

I’m so glad I’ve come upon your blog. I’m going to definitly be busy reading! We have a HUGE back and front yard project on the to do list but it will be slow going and little by little. Checked off that list is two new raised 8×6 vegetable gardens started way back in March/April. Yep we’re in the south and are watching tiny vegetables start to grow right now. Got to go weed!

What an inspiring retreat…
Living in the PNW we have to ‘sneak’ in the garden moments while we can…between showers!LOL
I’ve been playing ‘Tag’ with the rain. During sunbreaks, I grab the waterproof kneeling pad, trowel and a perennial pot, head to a bed, dig like a frantic dog after a bone, drop fertilizer and plant into the hole, cover it quick, and let the next shower water it in. It’s a fun way to deal with the weather and still get the garden in shape.:)
Beautiful porch! I’m dying for some more porch like weather too-it’s been too cold and windy around here for my tastes!

I thought it was your porch for a moment. My porch and yard can be missed if you sneezed. Southern CA is not known for large yards.
Thank you for the eye candy for this week. They were all lovely.

What a beautiful porch. It’s probably good that I don’t have one–I would never want to leave. Good book, lemonade….

I ventured out into the sunshine today too! I discovered some unexpected beauty lurking in my backyard…thank goodness because my porch is so in need of a makeover…that’s my goal for next Spring…this year inside…next year outside. They makeover you shared is SO dreamy! Sigh…made me want to change my plans! LOL

I bought a new umbrella and the wind blew it across the garden; I bought spray paint to spruce up the armchair and new cushions too. Where did spring go? And will summer come? If the rain and wind keep up I may keep everything packed till next year.
Françoise who envies your optimism!
Thanks for hosting the link party. We finally got our front porch planters done – I love it when I come home from work every day now – there is something so inspiring about having a welcoming front porch.
