Pretty little things <br> for your walls and furniture

Muralettes

Greetings blog friends!

I’m still hanging out at the hospital taking care of my momma (definitely my highest priority right now!), but I finally am able to pop in during a little care giving break to tell you about an idea I found that I really like and I think you will too!

I love the look of a handpainted mural or piece of furniture. My husband spent many painstaking months hand painting a Hobbit mural on my son’s wall before he was born and it looked amazing! I was so sad to have to leave that artwork behind when we moved. I’m sure he’ll never paint another mural, it was quite a job!

Too bad we don’t all have artists in residence or that much time on our hands to create something really personal! When I saw these beautiful decals (Muralettes) based on original artwork, I was excited to show them to you. I think they are a great alternative to the real deal.  They give you that handpainted look without your own talent or time involved.

These little works of art were created by real life decorative painters so you can even see brush strokes, isn’t that so cool and amazing?! Love. I can envision so many ways to use these!

With these pretty decals, you can instantly change the look and feel of any room. And you know I’m all about fast and easy decorating and moving on with life! I especially love easy decorating when you can still maintain the quality look at a fraction of the price.

These little lovelies can be applied however you want to configure them, so how you want to use them is completely customizable! Having artwork like this actually painted on your walls would cost a fortune so it is awesome to be able to get the look for less.

I also loved that these would also be absolutely ADORABLE applied on furniture to customize a featured piece! They would be fun on or around doors or could jazz up boring closet doors or built in cabinets too! Easy peasy but very fun, don’t you think?

These three individual sets of decals (Fishies, Posies and Birds & Branches) have been added to my Open Sky shop! Good news, for the next week you can get $19 off any of the sets with this coupon code: INSPIREDMURALETTE! Have fun with these! I would LOVE to see photos of how you use them!

Thanks for all your well wishes for my mom. She is on the mend (she had a severe bout of pneumonia) but it is going to be a day by day process, so I appreciate your prayers as she recovers so we can get her back home! It is never fun to see someone you love suffering so it has been a stressful week to say the least!

Your mother is blessed to have you for a daughter. Lifting you both up in prayer as I write this. (you probably didn’t even notice the pause…)

I painted a full wall mural in the master bedroom. Of the house we sold 3 years ago. I miss it! Like your husband, I’m unsure I’d have the motivation to do it again! I think these wall ‘stickers’ are great to brighten up a room, and so fast and easy.

Great Ideas!!! I would love to see pics sometime of the “Hobbit” mural if you have them. It sounds wonderful! D paints, and both my girls are exceptional painters. They did about 120 tiles (different pics of herbs) for me to put up in my kitchen. They are just gorgeous!

Glad to hear your mom is doing better. Are you down here? Do you want me to pop over and drop off a fun magazine and a cup of tea or something? So your brain can take a rest in the in between times?

    Hugs!

Sarah Richardson added decal art to a powder room in the 2nd installment of Sarah’s house. It turned out very elegant. I have been looking for an opportunity to use them!!

    Hi Melissa,
Amazing Lady that you are (interior designer & care giver extrordinaire), those fish look like they would be at home in your seaside cottage!;)
If we lived closer, you would have some healthy yummy meals dropped at your door. Please be sure to keep up your strength to care for others by eating right and getting the rest you need.
    Take care,

I’m impressed with the way the wall decal market is really changing to fit evolving styles. I really thought the decal craze would be over right now but there are so many new, cool things that I think it’s going to be around longer…

    Good wishes to your mother.

Love the decals, Melissa. Do you have any in your home? (Maybe I should re-read the post LOL). Just popping in to see what you’ve been up to. I know you are so busy right now. Love you (and your Mama!)

    Melissa,

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. I’m glad she’s doing better. I know how tough it is to hang out at a hospital for weeks. I just went through that stint in January.

Another product that I used to use for a similar effect on walls were the sponges that were cut with patterns. These were solid sponges and we used watercolor to paint the walls. It came out really well and you can customize however you want.

I had bought them from craft stores like Joanns Fabric.

Melissa, I am so glad to hear you mom is doing better. Having recently spent countless hours with my mom during her diagnosis and treatment for cancer, I know how you’re feeling – it is exhausting, emotionally and physically, but of course, we take care of our moms just like they took care of us when we were little! Take care of yourself, too. That’s the hardest part (at least, it is for me) with competing (but necessary) obligations.

Thanks for sharing these great decals. Know all of your blog readers are thinking of you and continuing to pray for healing for your mom.
