How to Set Up A Pretty Dessert Table<br> {& Cute Kids Table}

my old house, 2007

I was watching my new blog friend Kim from the amazing TomKat Studio on a TV show (Sonora Living Live) where she did a segment on creating a dessert table. I knew you’d love to see this!

Oh how I love what Kim does, because that is totally how I like to entertain. I love dessert tables. I love dessert. I actually love buying pretty desserts to save the hassle (you know I’m not a big fan of the messy cooking or baking parts of entertaining). I’d rather enjoy my time setting the dessert up all fancy! The setup is my FAVORITE part, next to the EATING {of course}! Hate me.

I’ve been known to have Dessert Parties, and just skip the main course all together.

The ideas Kim shares in her segment for how to make a dessert table lovely are wonderful and so doable using some of the basic things we should all have in our decorating stash. We’ve talked about these before, ladies, so I hope you already have these things on hand! If not, it is time to start collecting!

Dessert Table

The basics you’ll need are:

White dishes in various shapes (I find mine at HomeGoods)
Various sizes white cake plates
Tall white candle sticks
Candles
Seasonal items
Dessert tags to identify desserts
Pretty desserts (homemade, purchased or potluck!)

Below is the video clip where Kim shows us how to create a dessert table (and a kids’ table too)! If you are not able to see it in the email or RSS feed, just click this link to view it on my blog. You’ll have to push the triangle play button on the lower left hand side of the video player.

Enjoy! I’m going to be working on my own holiday tables soon! I can’t wait! Hopefully I can share more ideas later.

Here is a link Kim shares for the printable tags!

Such a pretty dessert table. I’m hosting a party for my mother’s 80th birthday next month and am looking for ideas. I love the stack of white pedestal dishes – I may see if I can emulate that idea.

This is SO CUTE! It would require the right combination of desserts, but I love the look and am going to try something similar for Christmas.

(sigh)…. I love white dishes. They can show up to any event looking classy, even after Labor Day. Great table, fun feature Melissa.

The only holiday party I am hosting this year is welcoming baby #3~but we will have a few out of town family members here to help out so it will really seem like a celebration!
