How do you make a magnetic chalkboard?
Ok, so this was a question I had in one of my comments or emails at some point and I felt bad that I couldn’t give a proper answer. I tried to use magnetic paint under my chalkboard paint once and it didn’t work. Now I know why, thanks to Julie of Less Than Perfect Life of Bliss!
Julie’s post on How to Make a Magnetic Chalkboard gives all the do’s, do nots and answers and a great solution too for an adorable DIY magnetic chalkboard!
Do you have an inspiring decorating idea you think my readers might like? Email it to me with at least one good quality photo (and a link to your post if you have shared it on your blog!). Please put your name or blog name and link in your email so I know how to credit you.
Melissa,
Up to 5 days to actually become magnetic and the magnetic paint cancels out the chalk board paint? Of course it’s not mentioned on the can, they’d lose sales!
Thank you for sharing this post. I adore her use of old broaches to make decorative magnets!
Your Friend,
Deborah
Thanks so much for featuring my chalkboard, Melissa. Happy Valentine’s Day to you & your readers!
Bookmarked for later. Thanks so much.
I ran into some of the same issues as Julie, AND my magnet paint clumped up and wouldn’t dry. I used metal roof flashing, which is similar to sheet metal but comes in a roll to make my magnetic chalkboard.

I would love to know what the wall paint color is, if you know it.
