How to Decorate {Using Accessories You Already Have}

How to Decorate {with Accessories}

I’m a use what I have to decorate kind of girl. I’ve had some of the same furniture and accessories for years. Every now and then I give things a little update or add something new to the mix of what I already had.

Because my busy life is focused on a lot of other priorities, I like to keep the process of decorating SIMPLE and DOABLE without too much fuss or expense. I have a long list of little formulas or tricks I use to put my house together in a way that allows me to use what I have and pull it all together.

My favorite tips for decorating are so simple! You really don’t have to go out and buy new things or even be a skilled DIY’er, in all likelihood, you already have what you need to have a well put together home.

If you want my best advice for how to decorate your home, check out my How to Decorate series of tips and inspiration.

Today over at The Stories of A to Z I’m sharing three more of my decorating tips (plus a few more thrown in for good measure) for staging your accessories. You can use these tips even if you are renting! No construction or destruction involved!

Beth is doing a series featuring home decor bloggers on the basics of Decorating for the DIY’er, so I was honored to be asked to contribute! You’ll enjoy the series, so I hope you’ll check it out!

    I just have to tell you that I just fell into the abyss of your site (looking at about 30 different pages) and I feel SO inspired right now! Thank you for having such a wonderful blog that can solve any dilemma I am having! (I have a 3rd bedroom that is a mix between guest room/ craft room/ and storage and am usually at a loss as to how to deal with it (aside from just closing the door)). I love to peruse your blog when I just feel overwhelmed.

    I’ve always tried to use what I have (or someone in the family has), I enjoy the process of reinventing their uses and giving each and every piece a new chance in life.
    Have a nice weekend!

    I always shop my house!

    In fact I have some storage shelves in the basement that I keep all my seasonal items, and decorative things. I reuse them year by year, but rarely in the same way!

    It is marvelous!
