We've Been Busy Around These Parts

Wow a couple of days went by with no post! Ever wonder what bloggers are up to when they don’t post? Well if it is me, it is because I’m doing other life kinds of stuff and sometimes it means I’m doing projects too! It is hard to sit on your rump all day blogging AND get stuff done around the house. At least it is for me. OK, my absence also meant I was pinning. You know how much easier it is to push PIN than it is to create a blog post? HA!

So this week I’ve been working on a new project!

Remember that hallway that I hung my new command center in? The one I said I needed to repaint someday? Well, someday was now. I couldn’t stand it any more. I just really wanted to clean up the hallway. The walls were dirty and dinged up and I was loving my command center so much I didn’t want to keep being reminded that my walls were in need of paint. So, I’m fixing that.

I’ll update you on that project soon (oh, and see my new step stool in the picture? Now I have my BFF and a step stool so I’m much more equipped now to whip projects out!).

And other than painting, I spent quite a bit of time dealing with rebel dog Jack. You might have seen this on Facebook, but he was having a grand ol’ time hopping around the sofa being crazy when he tipped my pretty turquoise lamp right over on the floor and broke it. The lamp that used to sit right on the table next to my white sofa. WAHAA! Sadness. I think I can glue it but I couldn’t find my super glue so for now, it is taped. Classy.

What are you up to this weekend? Are you watching the Super Bowl?

I love my step-ladder, it is one of the most inspired things my husband has ever purchased for me!

I’m sorry about your lamp – I bet Jack feels really bad for what he did. Indy (my german shepherd) did the same thing with a beautiful chinoiserie lamp of mine. :(

I’ve got a busy weekend planned, but it mostly revolves around activities for my son – he participates in Destination Imagination, and I’m his team captain – next week is the regional tournament, so we are having our dress rehearsal this weekend. I might find time to watch some Super Bowl commercials… :)

Oh man I’d be really bummed if Jack broke something of value. I loved my lamp but it was from HomeGoods and it will be easily replaced.

Yes, I’m excited for the commercials too :-)

Good for you for just getting it done and painting those hall walls. And what a naughty puppy for breaking your pretty lamp. Don’t you feel like it is two steps forward and one step back (or sometimes even two back).

Yes, that is totally my life. Two steps forward one back. Or, sometimes one step forward two back :-)

I live in Indy, so it’s all Super Bowl all the time around here! My dad and brother are the lucky ones who have tickets. The rest of us will be watching from the couch. Go Giants! Have a great weekend, Melissa!

Awww… look at Jack’s sweet face! I don’t think he could have broken that lamp – it must have jumped from the table on its own. ;)

I’m with you on the fun of pinning, and THAT’S why I don’t have a dog 

Oh, the joys of dog parenting. At least it wasn’t an expensive lamp. Isn’t that why we buy less expensive things? So that when something happens to it, you don’t feel so bad.
Have fun painting. Seriously, it’s one of my favorite pastimes and one I’ll be doing this weekend to try and finish my guest bathroom.

    How about some unsolicited advice.
We have a rambunctious doodle named Wally. The smartest thing we every did was to ban him from the furniture. In a perfect world where there is no rain or mud or sand — no problem.
But, in the real world, he drags in enough stuff — but it doesn’t end up on the upholstered furniture. He’s perfectly happy lying on the rug or in his comfy bed.
    Just saying…

I would be perfectly happy without him on the couch, but, he LOVES sitting on our couch because he can look out the window on rainy days. I just don’t have the heart to make him sit on the floor where he can’t see out. I know. Silly. Ideally he’d be on the floor and our slipcovers would always be clean and he wouldn’t knock over my lamp. But, he just enjoys that window so much, I’m a softie and a glutton for punishment.

Missed hearing from you…but sounds like you’ve been busy with an ornery dog! And I love me some pinning too! ;)
    Enjoy your weekend.

Sorry about your lamp! Silly puppy! I can’t wait to see your newly painted command centre. There’s been lots of painting going on here, but not today as we’re headed off to my parents’ today so my husband can build a smoker.

So sorry about your lamp. And about the tape, my 12 year old son would love it. He thinks that duct tape fixes everything. He got camo duct tape for Christmas and you would’ve thought that he’d been given the moon. It was his favorite gift. Needless to say, when something around my house needs fixing, he gets the duct tape.

Totally understandable – we all have those days (or three, or four…).

Yes, we’re watching the Superbowl. And by we, I mean my husband. I have, however, bought him snack foods so I am contributing in some form. :)

At the mo, the kid is playing vintage Pokemon and I need more coffee. Later is youth group, violin, and maybe pizza.

Tomorrow is…the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet!
(We watch every year. We love the kitty cheerleaders.)

everyone needs a few days to get stuff done. Sorry about Jack’s little accident with the lamp. Oh well, he’s a child still.
I’m working in the garden, since its feeling more like spring than winter around here.

So sorry about your lamp! In case you need to get a new one {and since Home Goods is so hit-and-miss}, Lowe’s has a very similar one for $25. It is the same aqua blue and has a glass-like finish to it…I’ve had a crush on it for awhile now. :)

I am working in the greenhouse, planting and sorting seeds, making food for the superbowl, and washing bedding. House project today will probably be spackling and sanding in the dining room. I’m also going to check and see what I have for you for lilacs.

    Hugs and God bless,

Haha! My dog did the same thing. She knocked my bedside table (with the lamp) over then proceeded to chew All the wicker basket drawers. Honestly! She’s the female version of Marley from “Marley and Me.” :)

Hey Melissa! I’ve scarcely been online at all in the past week or two, so tonight I’m catching up a bit. It’s always good to be here.

Have I told you that my husband’s name is Jack? It always makes me smile to see pics of your Jack. I must admit it IS a good name for a puppy! And bless your Jack’s heart. He didn’t mean to break your pretty lamp, I know. I can tell. And I’ll bet he will never jump around and onto the sofa again. Right?
