My Latest Flea Market Find {& A Dreamy Idealist Personality}

 My Latest Flea Market Find!

Hello! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! We stayed in our jammies all day eating delicious food. It was heavenly! We felt very blessed and enjoyed every minute of it.

Today I headed out to a fun local flea market (Uptown Mercantile Marketplace, formerly known as Flea Market Chicks) and stumbled upon this glorious metal arbor. I suddenly had visions of it engulfed in blooming vines this summer in my backyard, right at the edge of our new pea gravel patio. I pictured removing the door/shelf thing so we could meander through it at the entrance to what I hope will be a small area with newly planted vegetable garden boxes. Perhaps I would add a couple of new cushions to the benches on each side of the arbor. I was so inspired by the possibilities that I couldn’t leave the store without buying it. Even though an arbor was not on my list of ‘must haves’ right now, the romantic idea of it drew me in!

I’ll worry about how to get it home later, heheheh.

It is going to be a lovely focal point for our backyard. Now I can’t wait for summer :-)!

PS. I took an online personality test and my personality was “Dreamy Idealist.” That probably explains why I romanticize everything, hahaha. Sigh. Anyway, you can see how it describes me via that “Dreamy Idealist” link above and then while you are there, just click on “take a free personality test” and see what yours says about you! It’s fun and only a few questions!

Come back and tell me what your personality is, I want to know!

What’s new around your place?

    You are too funny. I love the arbor and if I didn’t live in an apartment I would have snagged it away from you. I loved taking the personality test. Amazing how accurately these tests can be. I was defined as the Energetic Doer, and even as a retiree for several years the definition was certainly an apt one. The print out is going in my new 2014 art journal. Thanks.

    Independent Thinker – that doesn’t sound too exciting either but it’s true although it’s not stopping me from having a ball with expressing my inner creativity – whereas before I ‘angst-ed” over everything, now I’m thinking more thoughtfully about what I do and what I choose and I’m OK with waiting for the just right thing to wiggle its finger at me.

    I’m excited to see that wonderful arbor repurposed in your garden. Hurry, Spring (though probably only an idiot would wish that in the Arizona desert – Spring is right now and I need to get crackin’ on gardening/flowering projects).

    Reliable Realist. Yep. That’s me. Oh, and I’m looking forward to summer, too Melissa. I de-Christmased yesterday (the 26th!). Winter touches are still up around the house, but anything exclusively Christmas is packed away for another year. ;-)

    I’m a Sensitive Doer. “They are gentle, modest and reserved persons. They cope well with everyday life and like their privacy. With their quiet, optimistic nature, they are also good, sought-after listeners and other people feel well in their company.” It’s funny that just a few questions can pinpoint my personality so well.

    I’m a Good Natured Realist “Good-natured Realists are warm-hearted, helpful personalities. They do their work conscientiously and have a pronounced organising talent. They often feel they are committed to traditional values. The family in particular is extremely important to Good-natured Realists. Their greatest pleasure is making themselves useful and taking care of other people.” For the most part, pretty true……at 66 and now retired some of the statements were not so finite….and I tended to want to make my own block of statements with parts of each group of two……but my family feels this is a pretty good assessment. :) –
    Melissa, I also wanted to thank you for the inspiration on your Christmas mantel this year…we don’t have birch trees in Tidewater VA so I found a birch branch at Michaels and used a beaded garland that I have had for years along with the white lights……..I have a collection of trees of various shapes, sizes and materials that I used around the log and was really pleased with the results…..I’ll be posting pictures of my house at Christmas 2013 on pinterest at Kristan Lynd Isaksen Huddle…….Happy New Year to you!

    Independent thinker. Some of the lists were a toss up for me, with both describing me accurately yet having some things that were so not me, though.

    I am an “Energetic Doer” which describes me perfectly. My friends and family are always in awe how I am able to stay up working on a design project till the wee hours in the morning. Then awake with less than 5 hours of sleep and host a 30 person dinner event….LOL! Thanks for sharing!

    Social realist, wow, this was so on the mark, I’ve been a caregiver for my whole family for over 30 yrs, beginning with my grandmother , through my dad, his wife, my mom whom I cared for in my home throughout her journey with dementia. As a little girl I would line up my dolls and play hospital! Thanks for sharing.
