And, I’m back with PART TWO of my projects from around the house in 2013!
You can find PART ONE right here. Even though it took me forever to look through a year of posts and get the links together, it was very fun to look back at all that has been accomplished around our house. I don’t like to rush through things and not take time to enjoy them. I’m S-L-O-W to complete projects but at the same time, I love getting things DONE! The best part is, I love every minute of making my house a home!
If you are new here, you’ll see that most everything I do around my house is simple, affordable or pretty easy to accomplish. I am big on puttering around the house, tweaking this and that until it feels right! My house has been evolving a little bit at a time, and of course I try to keep you updated along the way so thanks for following along with all my crazy whims.
Enjoy browsing the links and catching up on all that happened around my house in 2013!
The Family Room:
With the remodel of the kitchen came a sprucing up of our adjoining family room.
We added new bamboo blinds, embellished IKEA curtains, and a new ottoman, and a gallery wall among other little tweaks to our space. You can find many of the related posts below!

I owe you another post on the TV/media room, but this post on our new wall sconces is where we left off!

The Dining Room Evolution Continued
The dining room has evolved more times than any other room in the house and it is still in process. Hate me. Heheheh.
It’s not that I haven’t liked it along the way, I have. I just have had a different end goal in mind.
You’ll notice how something quietly evolved even just this year as you check out these posts. I didn’t even take time to fully blog about the changes yet, but I will catch you up soon!
But rest assured, I’m heading somewhere good. I hope.
Bed & Bath Projects:
This year we tackled TWO bedrooms and we are so happy we did! We had wanted to work on these rooms for years!
In 2014 we will be finishing up the details of these rooms and working more on our upstairs, too (among other rooms!).
We also did a quick mini-makeover of our powder room!

If you missed it at the tale end of the year, our Christmas house tour showed lots of pictures of our home!
We also had fun decorating our front porch and are pretty proud of our Boxwood Wreath Chandelier!

While I may have missed a thing or two, that was our year of projects in a nutshell (and two posts — here is part one if you missed it!).
I’m quite excited about moving forward on refining our home even more in 2014, so thank you all again for following along with the transformation.
Happy New Year!
I am just in awe on how you keep everything so clean with kids & 2 dogs!
More?! Gee, you have been busy this year. Thanks for all the inspiration!
More great projects! I had somehow missed the headboard/bed. Great job!
Congratulations, Melissa, on a year of wonderful work resulting in a wonderful “real” home. It’s obvious you’ve accomplished Maria Killam’s Colour Me Happy blog tagline “If you would like your home to fill you with happiness every time you walk in…” I’m a latecomer to your blog, just this past Fall, but I’ve been inspired numerous times and I look forward to reading your posts along with Maria’s over my morning cup of coffee. Look forward to 2014!
Happy New Year and thanks for the re-cap. Your blog is like an old friend, looking back at some of the posts really made me smile. I can’t wait for the next entry. You are such an inspiration to me. Keep up the great work in the new year!
The third picture is fantastic.
I love the white fireplace in the living room :).
A boat on the fireplace is great.
All the best in 2014 :)
you have such a beautiful home! You inspire me to take on more this year! Happy New Year!
I think I could move right in…I love everything. Your tour is very helpful…even if I’m just looking for a new way to style a shelf.
Thanks for sharing your talent.
Happy Day
I love your home, especially the non-intricate trim work I can see. Gorgeous. I’ve always disliked crown moulding and baseboards because they can look so…traditional and I’m not a traditional girl! Thanks for sharing!
Your home looks so happy and ‘alive’… I think I would love to have a large plant in my living room. I’ll have to give that a try!
I love all of your ideas, they are so fresh and different. I also am in awe of your blog in general. The flooring in your kitchen is stunning. I love my floors but have slight envy now that I have seen yours. The plant chandelier on your porch is great. I kind of wish Christmas was not over so I can do that. I will have to keep it in mind for next year!
I love your Christmas house tour. Beautiful!
