{Inspiration} Craft Closet Organization

Beneath My Heart

A

s 2014 begins, I’ve been brainstorming what I want to accomplish this year. I have a few areas in my home that I am determined to get organized, so I’m pretty sure that is where I need to begin.

I recently shared with you the cheerful makeover we did on our guest room…which I still really love! On the left side of that room, we have a small closet that is very under-utilized at the moment. To be honest, it’s kind of become one of those “I have no idea where to put this so I’ll just set it in here” kind of closets. Do you have one of those?

This year I’m so excited to reclaim it and make it into a more useful space! The plan for now is to transform that closet into a home for my craft supplies and gift wrap. I’ve been gathering inspiration around the web and am getting more inspired by the minute to make much better use of the space we have!

What space are you hoping to organize this year?

Love all of your inspirations! I have a tiny fourth bedroom that currently gets used as an office. It would be great to redo the closet and only take up the closet in that room and keep it as another guest room. After my husband and I finish our kitchen I’m really hoping to build an entry way and then tackle our master bedroom closet. So much organizing, so little time!

I find that organizing one space always begets another! I would love to start adding more cabinetry to our kitchen, but/so I will need to work on a storage area in the workshop. And my linen closet. And the front hall closet. Each area is somehow strangely tied to the other. Your post has me inspired to work on the linen closet for holding gift wrap!

Great spaces! I love the two that are in closets, and they really use the space on the back side of the closet door too. We are going to be starting a whole house renovation this spring, which will be good because it’s going to force me to get things organized! We’re adding two big closets in our basement which I’m very excited about!

Our storage room on the loft above our apartment! It is definitely our “I’ll just set it in here”-space and now there is no room left – and noone can find anything!

I love the idea of having the workspace in the closet! I love the teal pegboard!
I want to work on my pantry, filing, and entryway.

Extra closet? Ha Ha! Have one itty bitty coat closet (less than 2′ wide) and it houses an entry to the attic so can’t every be permanently creative. It’s my open office in the old DR in my very open floor plan that is my challenge. Love all the inspirations. Sharilyn Wright of Lovely Design has the most appropriate look for me complete with kitty in front of monitor. My Mei Mei found the way up the side of the desk and across it to the tall Baker’s rack on the other side and she often stops along the way to visit me. Because I can’t close the door on my creation, I have to work a bit harder at it, but tons of inspiration here, as usual. And there is my laundry room off the kitchen, both of which are on the list for a small reno with painted cabinets in the kitchen and removal/rearrangement/painting in the laundry room. Thanks, as always, for being true to your name – I’m always inspired.

You have an unused closet??? how wonderful. currently mine are full. However, it is really an encouragement to know that once I re-did our entry closet in a simple, uncluttered plan, it has remained the picture of organization for 8 years. Yes! It is worth the effort to investigate and re-imagine a closet space and make the change. Thanks for all of your inspiration. Your site is a highlight of my day.

Ah – I love it! We are planning to carve out some space (creating a new little room actually) using part of our master closet!!! I’m planning to start a blog and it will hopefully be one of the first big projects we document! Really love your blog – so much inspiration – you feel like a “soul sister” to me.: )
Thank you (and I’ll keep you posted!!: )

Love all the inspiration photos. Sadly, I don’t have any spare space in this house to do something like that. When we lived in Florida I made my office in an unused closet, way before I started reading blogs. ;) Looking forward to seeing what you do.

I have a pantry closet that needs a good organizing. It usually end up as the catch all for the holidays so I would love to clean it out and start new.

I am sooooo loving this post. It made me think about how most of my closets are catch all’s and how I would love to take control of the clutter! Thank you for the inspiration.

My basement is looking like the hoarders tv show! Filled with projects and old furniture, toys and whatever. It is so embarrassing. My husband just made a deal with me that I can get a new camera if I clean it up!

I just finished turning my laundry room into a craft/laundry room. It’s amazing how nice it is to work on projects and have all of my supplies at my fingertips!

Love all these spaces – can’t wait to see how your closet comes together! I’m looking forward to organizing our office/craft room in the basement. We need some more smart storage in there.
