Last week I shared that I was on the hunt for green in the family room, but I’ve also been scheming to add green in other rooms in the house! My laundry room, the second to last room painted “swine,” is currently getting a fresh coat of white paint. It feels so much better already! It’s a tiny space, so the white really opens it up and makes it feel especially clean, light and bright. Inspired by beautiful white rooms with green industrial lights, I decided my laundry room would be a fun space to play around with that look.

My laundry room currently features a less than inspiring large fluorescent light on the ceiling. I’ve been dying to take it out since the day we moved in. I already picked out a great flush mount green light fixture from Barn Light Electric and it is sitting right here in a box, ready to install as soon as the room is painted! It won’t be long now!

Today I wanted to share these lovely spaces that inspired my laundry room color scheme.

Enjoy! And happy Monday!

I”m currently planning a remodel (actually since it’s just a washer and dryer stuck in a 1930s unfinished basement, it was never DONE to begin with) in my laundry pit. I’m thinking denim blue for my recycled old kitchen cabinets with dark stained wood tops, white walls, pegboards and shelves. Since it’s basically a cave, I’m trying to splash as much light as possible in there. My goal is to create a laundry craft work area I’d actually like to be in beyond shoving clothes in and out of the washer…
But I was wondering how your garden plans are progressing?

Ditto my laundry room’s cave look. Worse yet, the builder/developer of my Sun City West home, Del Webb, who had successfully developed Sun City and should have known better, offered a window in the laundry room as an OPTION, and the idiot original buyers didn’t choose it. I have the huge fluorescent overhead as well. Since putting a window in (if I got permission from the HOA) would require winning a lottery and since a solar tube above (as I have in the kitchen) would only help while the sun is directly overhead, I’m looking at a wall mural window of some sort for that wall and meanwhile, I follow Maria Killam’s suggestion about placing a small lamp in the room and keeping it lit all day. Low-wattage LED bulb that doesn’t burn hot and does burn for years probably wouldn’t be too costly over the long term. I’m going to eventually have to deal with two Texas-size fluorescents flanking the solar tube in the kitchen and I’d love some sort of pendants like these in the pix but not sure they would look so good hanging over nothing plus they might not provide enough light (no cans/recessed in the future); however, the ones in the Veranda pic by Bunny Williams look quite interesting and something like that might be a possibility.

These aren’t quite my desired shade of green, but thanks again for getting the creative juices flowing.

Looking forward to seeing your laundry room makeover! I am loving this deep green you are sharing. It does strike me how colors come around again. I was married in 1974 with avocado, harvest gold and orange being the popular colors. New fresh versions of these today are fun to see!

I like almost all my lighting except for the pendants over my kitchen island. I have been looking for a replacement, but just haven’t hit the right note yet….I am thinking green industrial lighting might fit the bill! We shall see. These are inspiring photos from the Inspired Room…thanks.

These green lights – dying. I love green, and love fun lighting! I’ve been trying to get inspiration for my laundry room as well (currently has lovely linoleum and wire shelving…yay), and need some color. I was thinking a fun turquoise or deep blue in the cabinetry, but you’ve inspired me to think about some lighting to jazz it up!

I love the green lighting! I have a small laundry room…or a better description would be “laundry space”….LOL! I wanted my space to feel more open and airy too. I painted the space a Sherwin Williams color called “languid blue”. It actually has me wanting to do laundry now…LOL!..just kidding! But I do love the color. Can’t wait to see your finished laundry room.
