I’m excited each spring to plant flowers in our front yard and planter. After a long winter, spring is very welcome!
I’m not much of a gardener, but I love this sentiment!
This is my second year of gardening at our home (I moved in when I married my man and we blended families two years ago). Last year I did a few foundation bushes and perennials, this year I’m adding more annual color! I brought a few irises and black-eyed-susans from my previous garden, from my mother’s garden and I enjoy seeing the shape emerge.
Just this week I planted grass for the first time ever … it’s raining now, so we’ll see how that goes! I love this sentiment and will keep hoping for tomorrow!
Oh, I bet you’ll have a wonderful green lawn before long! We planted some last fall I think and it grew fast! Enjoy!
If + when we finally move in to our Dutch colonial, perhaps I’ll be able to get our landscaping up + running, at long last. (So it’s been “only” 2+ years since we started our re-do; who’s counting?) Just like our most recent past 2 houses, I will have a blank slate in the yard — meaning no plants (yet)! These are the plans I dream about when I’m still awake! Anyway, when I spied those darling gardening gloves, I exclaimed aloud, “Come ON!” I mean, how cute are they? TY for posting!
P.S. So I just had a look-see re: those gloves, + I should have known they were from Terrain! I love their website + have ordered from them before! I’d love to visit one of their 2 stores someday!
I would love to see their store too, I always love their things!!!
I am so ready for planting, but I know that I have to wait until after 4/15 to buy any plants. Otherwise, I’ll have to keep running out on chilly nights to cover them all up.
My big project is to upgrade my raised beds. My last ones I just nailed together, but I bought some of those metal corners to make them easier to construct as well as taller – less bending for me. I also plan to put in a water drip system, again to make it easier for me and to conserve water. After that – then comes the planting. What am I planting – peas, cucumber, lettuces, tomatoes and peppers. Oh, lots of herbs!
I love gardening. Last year had an accident and couldn’t get out. I am very excited about gettin in the garden this year. Would you believe that I love to dead head and like to weed (most of the time). I also love to prune trees and bushes. I live in CA and the birds songs are beckeoning me to come out!
Love your blog and appreciate not only your DIY but also your inspiring words.
Thank you Kathie!! :)
I’m so excited about Spring! I can’t wait to plant all kinds of herbs, veggies and flowers!
I love those garden gloves and the tools with the pretty blue/green color handles…so cute!
I am a new gardener and the patch of green on my balcony brings a smile to my face every time. This winter I grew strawberries, chillies, lettuce, spinach, kale, and potatoes.Flowers are the most important members of my garden and the veggies need the most TLC. Currently I have started growing tomatoes .I am currently living in a small town in India posted as a doctor/teacher in a Medical College.
Gardening, blogging, painting and taking care of my 3 year old daughter keeps me busy.Ibusy.I love the inspired home and even though my current home is rented, I love the home I Have! Thank you Melissa for this wonderful Opportunity!
Love 2 and 3! I miss having a real yard!
I have a technical question for you as a new blogger! :)
I see you often post pictures of products. Is this legit under the Fair Use act? In trying to better determine when I can/can’t post product photos. I know this will not constitute any legal advice etc, just wondering about your personal take. Thanks!!
I’ve never had anyone complain about me linking to someone’s products to feature them! Hopefully most businesses would be pleased with a few sales! :)
I am always excited for gardening! It’s one of my favorite parts of spring. This year, I want to plant a lot of fruits. Definitely could use a fresh glass of juice every morning.
I have just started thinking about some spring gardening and all of the things I should learn to make our yard look nice.
I look forward to the encouragement of hearing how others are aspiring to make their home a beautiful sanctuary!
Succulents are my plant of choice. Mainly because they are hard to kill and fun to split and move to other pots. Just today my little boy wanted to play outside in the sunshine all afternoon so I gave my front steps some attention and did a little succulent rearranging. It was fun to sit down this evening and see you were dishing out some gardening inspiration today. I also really love hydrangeas and peonies but here in California you have to keep those puppies watered daily which I often forget… So I mainly stick with what I can keep alive.
Btw, I stumbled onto your blog via Pinterest about a month ago, explored your site and have been checking it almost daily ever since. I have never been much into blogs but I feel your message is unique, genuine, and you just seem like a “kindred spirit”. I am finding myself doing a little less Pinterest, a little more reading ( I even picked up a few of the Sarah Susanka books from the library) and I feel so much more content and free to creatively make my home work for my family. So thanks!
I will be working on an herb garden this spring!
Luckily with our new house, I stripped the garden and can install whatever plants I like. I live in Holland, so I’m obligated to plant flowering perennials like hyacinth, narcissus, tulips etc. This week I already put in Heartbleed plants, hydrangeas, and the beginnings of our vegetable garden. I like to try different things in the garden, so I’m doing everything I can from rhubarb and strawberries to tomatoes and broccoli. The only thing I’m told I shouldn’t grow is potatoes, because of the surrounding tulip/flower farms.
Learned about your blog in BH&G; finding so much inspiration on your site! Seeing the adorable succulent on your gardening page made me want to tell about a great succulent shop on ETSY that my sister just opened — check it out, You’All! It’s called AddictedtoSucculents
Thanks for sharing your awesome creativity with other like-minded gals, Melissa.
Cheers, Melissa
