Freshen Up for Spring: Green and White

Friday Kitchen (see my 5 take away tips from this kitchen here!)

Spring is in the air and that means I’m thinking about green!

Plants, books, fabrics, accessories, paint, lighting, vegetables or fruit, it doesn’t really matter what it is, I just think adding a bit of green makes a room come to life. This time of year I especially love a fresh green and white color scheme. At my house I find myself looking around for green books to stack here and there, and for other green accessories to bring out. And of course, I always have plants!

Have you ever noticed that in magazines every room has something organic in it, like a plant or bouquet? I love bouquets but I don’t love how short-lived they are. Years ago I asked my husband to bring me a plant instead of cut flowers because it would last longer (ha, I guess my practical side won out of the romantic side)! I really do love plants in a room. Yeah, I know, sometimes they die. But they don’t always (and if they do, they usually long outlast a bouquet!), so it’s worth experimenting to see what does well in your home!

We love green too out at the Island place but it took us the longest time to find the right one. We went to strong at first and have subdued inside to a more jade color. But we only used it on accent walls and some of the accessories so we did not feel that the outside cedars burst in!!! Outside we hit the doors with one similar to the early inside strong one. You can do that with outside doors. We may go with the same high yield green on the new window frames outside or subdue it a bit with a hint of black.

I use green a lot in my decorating especially in my living room. Green is one color I have never grown tired of:). It is a great color to help bring the outdoors in especially with houseplants:). I love the rooms you chose, they are beautiful!!!

I can’t bring myself to use green, but they’ve done an amazing job on the images above!!! When I use green, I find myself picking teal :)

I love green. All kinds of it. My dining room has accents of teal and lime-ish sage. Now I’m trying to integrate it into my family room. But mostly I just wanted to tell you that I just got your book and I LOVE it! It’s so easy to read, and so applicable. I love how you share your belief in God, and the times in your life that are small-budgeted. It makes it real for all of us. I’m a teacher, and I have to pull myself away from it to work on my classroom!
    Happy Easter!

I do love these greens with white, grounded with sisal or neutral rugs – very natural combos.

I love this so much! I am hoping to have a more neutral living room soon so I can incorporate fresh color schemes seasonally. I am always drawn to green, inside and out!

I have at least one plant in every room of my home. Sometimes I look at rooms online and think how much prettier it would be if there were at one plant in the room to soften the look

I was wondering if you can have green in a room when the carpet is blue. I seem to choose colours that fit in with the blue carpet .

Sadly, I love to kill plants. Gardening and keeping houseplants brings me joy. So I have a lot of green in my home (until they go kaput and i buy a new one)

Absolutely love green, my whole kitchen is based on green. I have green and white striped wallpaper in the dining area and green painted kitchen cabinets. Green is natures neutral and I so agree with you. I HAVE to have real plants or flowers in my home. Such an easy thing to add.
    Fun post,
