A New Season {+ a new partnership}

Guess what? Did you know the beginning of July was my eighth blog anniversary? Can you believe it? I’m starting my NINTH year of blogging at The Inspired Room. I can hardly believe it myself, I’m still here blogging away and loving every minute of it! I meant to have a little celebration that important day took a backseat to the craziness of trying to move our life across a body of water. (Moving depletes every ounce of energy you have!).

While I plan a special post soon to reflect on my first eight years of blogging, I do want to pause for a moment to say I’m just so grateful first and foremost to you, my readers, for bringing such joy and growth to my life through this experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It is going to be fun to kick off a new season in blogging this week from our new “old” house in Seattle. I never dreamed when I started (with absolutely no expectations) that all these years later I would have the privilege of continuing to open my home (several homes? ha!) and share what I love with so many of you. There are so many new adventures and projects still ahead!

I also never imagined when I started The Inspired Room as a decorating business (seven months before I even started blogging) that I would eventually have the opportunity to grow my business and establish rewarding partnerships with brands I know and trust. These partnerships are not only a chance for me to stretch personally and professionally, but they offer me unique opportunities to continue my goal to provide useful insights and the relevant content we are interested in here on the blog.

A New Season {+ a new partnership}

So as I leap forward with enthusiasm into my ninth year at The Inspired Room blog, I’m honored to announce a new partnership. I have been selected as one of four new Brand Ambassadors for Samsung Home Appliances! This is a dream partnership for me and I look forward to working with Samsung for the next six months.

I am in great company, too, check out the amazing blogs that will round out the team of ambassadors: Joe’s Daily, The EveryDay Man, Design Hunter.

Samsung Home Appliances are smart innovative products that work together to make everyday life as efficient as possible, so that you have more time to do what really matters to you. We should take back our weekends, right? Samsung’s social agenda for 2015, Own The Weekend, really resonates with me!

I’ve always felt that appliances should be trusted to be working efficiently in background of our life so we can move on to enjoy the things we love. I’ll be sharing the behind the scenes things that matter most to me on my Instagram with the #owntheweekend hashtag, so follow along here with to see some of our fun weekends in Seattle?

I’m excited about this new partnership, a new season in blogging, and a new chapter in real life, too!

I hope you had a great three day weekend,. I can’t wait to get this week started to share some updates on my house, and especially … so we can TALK ABOUT FALL!

Are you ready for fall?

You can follow Samsung Home Appliances on InstagramFacebook and You Tube.

    We just had the privilege of building a new home, which means new appliances. I keep saying that these appliance manufacturers NEED to consult with regular women who use them, because there are so many things that are either irritating or just could be so much better with small changes! We put in a Samsung french door refrigerator in stainless. The surface get so fingerprinted and I know there are better stainless finishes out there because I’ve had some! So, if Samsung listens to you, tell them the surface is important! I love a clean home, and that smudged refrigerator just doesn’t help. And by way , it’s just my husband and I at home these days.

      Oh yes, I’m sure they’ll be listening and I’ll be learning more! PS. Congrats on building a new home, how much fun that must be! <3

      Oh, wow! I think I’d be hanging onto sandals too. But I have to admit I’ve been wearing BOOTS the past few days! Not because it is cold, but because I LOVE BOOTS and I love FALL! :)

    Congratulations on your 8th blogversary! You have a beautiful, inspiring blog, and I love reading it (even though I almost never comment).

    I began blogging in early 2006, and as my seasons of life changed, so did my blog. At first, I was a homeschool mom on the road to adopt more children, and my blog reflected those passions. However, as my kids finished high school and our adoption fell through, my blog focus changed. I ended up writing a classic film blog for 3 years, but a little over a year ago, I found that reviewing movies all the time had sucked the joy out of watching them, so I stepped back from that blog. Now, after over a year away from writing, I’m feeling like maybe, just maybe, it’s time to start another blog. All that to say, my hat is off to you for sticking with it all these years. May this next blogging year be your best ever.

    Blessings,
    Patti

      Aw, thanks Patti! Seasons certainly do change, don’t they? And I think it is perfectly OK to evolve along with them and even start new blogs as your interests and life changes. Thank you for being a reader and a sometimes commenter :)… it is nice to know you are out there. Good luck with your new blog if you start one and thank you so much for your kind words!

    Melissa, Your blog was one of the first I began to read and fell in love with your kitchen! I can’t tell you how many times I looked at that kitchen trying to imagine what I might emulate. Then you moved and inspired us with another beautiful kitchen. I look forward to what you will do in your next kitchen. Can you tell that I am a kitchen nut? All the best,Annette

      Thanks Annette, I appreciate that. I’m excited about the new kitchen, too! I would do kitchens all day if I could, they are just so much fun to design. But scary, too, you don’t want to mess that project up, ha! Thanks again for following along, it’s so nice to have fellow kitchen nuts along for the ride!

    I constantly bore my hubby and DILs discussing the evolution of blogs and my wondering about the future of blogs, heheh. That said, congratulations on so many years writing meaningful words that teach us many things about the home and the heart! Looking forward to watching you make your Seattle home beautiful.

      Thank you Barbara! Maybe I’ll be the last blogger standing. Ha! Who knows, but I’m going to enjoy every minute of it, even if I’m the only one left! :-D I think there’s a long future ahead in blogging, I mean, we can’t let blogs die until I at least move to the retirement home, right?

    Congratulations! I found your blog while surfing on the internet for decoration guidance last spring and have since followed all your posts. I also have read most of your older posts. I bought your book via Amazon, loved it and made notes, so I could really get started making our own home more special and comfy.

    I really really love the way you create a home. It is so much more interesting and beautiful than what is typical in my country (Finland).

    The most important thing for me in your blog is that by following your blog I can learn things. Not about products as such (as they seldom are in the selection where I live) but a new way to look at interiors, and to analyse our own home and find solutions that look and feel good. I’m not good at it and I’m only beginning to trust my preferences, so I’m glad I can get good input from your blog.

    Two other things I must mention while I am at it:
    – I completely understood your feelings about the “swine” wall color in your previous home. We had a room with paint color that I called “uterus” (I’m a country girl so I know the color of uterus very well!)! Unfortunately, I couldn’t blame anybody else for the color. It was the last room I painted years ago when we had completed building our house and were completely exhausted. I just mixed the paint from leftover paints and painted the walls. Uhhhh… We lived with that color for 10 years…
    – I’s so happy that even though your blog is not a Christian blog as such, you have told about your faith, and that it shows in your home. I’m a fellow believer and I think it’s great how you express your faith. I’m grateful for the joy and appreciation of beauty your blog gives to me. So I pray for you and for your family. I really want to see you and your family flourish. Thank you for blogging. God bless you.

      Thank you so much, Sanni! What an encouragement your comment was, thank you. I’m thrilled you are following along in Finland! That is so cool!

      And I have to say I laughed so hard about “Uterus” … tears. Thank you for the laugh! And blessings back to you all the way over in Finland. xoxo

    Congratulations on your new partnership Melissa and your blogging anniversary! You are an inspiration and it has been fun to see the many ways you spread your wings and the progress you’ve made. I’m amazed at how you’re able to juggle it all and your humbleness and sincerity shines through in your work.
