Christmas Decorating {Wreaths & Trees}

I can’t believe we are about to celebrate our first Christmas in our new house! It’s crazy to think last spring we just started seriously thinking about moving to Seattle and now we are here, getting settled in our new home. YAY! I think the experience of celebrating holidays and making memories in your house is one of the things that helps bond you a bit more to a new home, don’t you agree? Thanksgiving here with our family was wonderful and we just really enjoyed being in our home. I think Christmas will be even more special!

Even though I feel a bit behind on everything right now, my favorite Christmas decor is so simple it’s pretty effortless to pull together. I love using simple greenery as a way to gently incorporate the season. Wreaths, swags and sprigs of greenery here and there, plus of course some twinkling lights and a Christmas tree or two, is pretty much enough for me to feel like our home is festive and ready for celebrating!

Christmas Decorating {Wreaths & Trees}

Over the Thanksgiving weekend we got things rolling in the festive direction and it was so fun! We still don’t have our house put together completely, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying it. We went to a local nursery for a fresh tree and then came home and hung two pretty wreaths that I received from Harry & David (one of my go to holiday shopping sites online every year!). These wreaths smelled SO GOOD I could hardly wait to hang them in the house.

The wreath above our coffee station in our dining room is called the Winter Wreath and it is handcrafted at Harry & David’s family-owned Creekside Farms in California. The fragrant eucalyptus and fir base of the wreath is accented with other natural elements such as artemisia, tallow berries, pinecones, and thistle. You can hang it on your door or the wall and it should last all through the holidays and beyond!

The wreath above our entry cabinet at the top of this post is called their Lavender Herb Wreath. I’m sure you can imagine how divine it smells!  The lavender wreath is grown without pesticides or herbicides, which I love, and it is so pretty, too.

My family was in town and everyone was obsessed with the wreaths as I was unpacking them, they not only smell amazing but they are just gorgeous! They arrived in perfect condition and still look amazing!

It was fun to hang the wreaths since we don’t have hardly anything hung on the walls yet. They really helped cozy things up a bit and of course, anything natural in a room adds so much texture and warmth.

We also ordered this adorable REAL CHRISTMAS TREE (above) and it arrived all decorated with lights and set in the cool pot. It’s so cute! Wouldn’t this make a fun gift for someone? It’s called the Classic Mini Christmas Tree. Every year I order gifts for family from Harry & David (a tradition started by my grandparents!) and this year wreaths and trees will be at the top of my list to consider (which also includes their delicious Pears and Moose Munch gift sets!). It’s so easy to order gifts from Harry & David, even at the last minute or when you have no idea what to get someone, you can easily find a tempting treat or pretty wreath or tree to send along with your Christmas wishes!

I recently had the opportunity to create a special holiday checklist for Harry & David, too, I hope you’ll go check it out! With so much going on this time of year I find it helps to have a list to focus our attention.

Next up at our house this week we’ll be decorating our tree! I’m excited about that. Can you believe how fast Christmas is coming up? Are you ready? I’m not :) but that’s OK. Some years I feel prepared early and some years not, this will just be one of the nots. :) I’m not stressed about it though, just really happy to be getting settled and giving myself the time I need for that.

I’m working on my next update post with our progress on setting up the house and I’ll be sharing our new painted bedroom, too (!!!). Even just from painting the walls, I can tell our bedroom is shaping up to be one of my favorite bedrooms I’ve ever had. :)

    Those wreaths are beautiful! I love Harry and David, too. I was wondering if you’d share where the small cabinet in the first photo is from? With the herringbone wood pattern? It’s lovely!

    I was wondering if you would share where you purchased the industrial cart/sofa table that you are using for your coffee station?

    That reminds me to get that glue gun out to put back some of the pieces of a wreath that is so pretty for inside during the holidays. It always loses one or two parts each year… it is a Smith and Hawkins one that has lasted for 15 years plus! So real except for the parts laying on the floor each year that get shoved back in the storage box to be put on someday~~~~ love that yours have scent but too many allergies with visitors and family alike.

    Nope, not ready for Christmas Day yet! ~ but have decorated yes! Hooray! Greenery -rich or poor can do, and it’s the perfect Christmas touch. Love.
    When we had wee boys, my husband would climb a tree, robe down a mistletoe bush ~ and we’d decorate with it, and they’d sell baggies of it. Good times.
    Oh Christmas time …

    On the topic of painting your house, do you think Pantone’s Rose Quartz (co-color of the year) is akin to your dreaded “swine?” I had to laugh when I saw it.

    Wow! Almost $100 for a wreath? Who can afford that?

    Decorating for the holidays can be fun! Wreaths are a good choice, especially since they are festive and can save space. To make the decorations extra special, try making your own!
