How to Transform a Dated Room A Budget

When we first bought our 1950s house last year, we knew we loved many things about it. But, honestly there were many things we didn’t like. While it would have been nice to buy a house that was already perfect for us, our budget and time constraints didn’t offer us many choices. But we knew this one had enough going for it that in time we could transform it in time to a place we’d love.

Step by step, we are making progress. Every week our house looks a little bit different and feels a bit more pulled together. I can’t wait to share my progress with you this coming Monday for my fall house tour!

Today on the Life Storage blog, I’m sharing one of our first DIY makeovers in this house, our fireplace refresh. If you are new to my blog or haven’t been around for awhile, you may not even remember what this fireplace looked like before. Let’s just say paint was an affordable game changer.

You’ll find the before and after photo, the tale of our budget fireplace makeover and three ways to refresh a room, today on Life Storage!

Will you be revealing your exterior paint job on Monday? Or the side yard?

I’d love to see your kitchen before the remodel begins!

The original colors of the stone fireplace are my color, so of course, I would have chosen not to paint them! Isn’t it wonderful how everyone’s taste is not the same? That would be very boring!
