As per your statement about loving adventures and traveling the world–but you are a homebody through and through…I couldn’t be more with you! My husband and I bought our first house December 2014 and have been putting love into it through renovations and my creative (compulsive disorder…ahem) touches. I love your blog because it is so realistic to the real world and what it looks like to decorate and live in a home during such stages as renovations and projects, all while within a real budget. We had our share of messes and trials and errors through renovating our master suite last summer and it was quite fun–although equally exhausting. Now this year, my husband got an opportunity through his work to go over to Germany. He and I are big travelers, as well, and so we just had to take the opportunity. We are still young and don’t have any kids…however, we do have a dog. We decided to leave her with my in laws while we live in Germany for 5 months. Well, we moved here in April, and here we are…at our 5 month mark, but my husband was asked to extend his contract here so we decided to stay here a few more months. So 5 months is turning into 8-9 months and although I am just over-the-moon grateful and exhilarated to have this opportunity, learn German and travel to multiple countries…nothing beats home. I find myself decorating our extended-stay hotel room and purchasing things at markets that I can imagine in my little home back in the US. So funny!

      Hi Allison,

I’m so glad the blog is an encouragement to you! I love to show our real life progress, even though it is slow going sometimes.

How amazing that you get travel and enjoy the world right now! That sounds like a dream opportunity for sure. Also I’m glad you are finding some little treasures to bring back home, you’ll be so happy to have those special reminders of this season. ENJOY! :)

Really liking the Ohuhu colored pencils. Would love to order some, still on the fence about it. YES I am a total homebody. Give me a hot cup of tea, a good book, and my shelter pup by my side. Looking forward to your Fall Home Tour 2016 on Monday?Living near Houston, Texas where the humidity is terrible. Looking my eyes out for cooler (high 70s) weather. LOL

Ha! I order stuff from around the world because sometimes other countries just have better options :)

I’m a homebody too! We do love to travel, but there is always that tug of the heart to return “home”. Fall nesting is such a highlight! Today is perfect to do some baking! Low seventies and wonderful breezes! With the windows all open ( finally!) I’m sure we’ll be needing to wrap ourselves in a throw later when we snuggle up to a movie…at HOME. ❤️

My parents used to call all of us to let us know they were going traveling–e.g. 10 days to 2 weeks north to see British Columbia. Five or six days later we would get their post card from some place like Arizona on the same day we got a call from them FROM THEIR HOME to let us know it was a great trip! It became such a regular occurrence that the grandkids made it into a skit at our annual family camping trip!

We are definitely homebodies. Love to explore, love to visit friends, love to take trips, but in the end, we like home best of all. We especially like having visitors. Love a good house party with lots of people staying over.

Accordingly, our home is outfitted and decorated to make being home a true pleasure. We take a lot of pride in our interior design and our gardens. We are retired, so it’s easy for us to keep up with the requirements of having a restful and beautiful home. We are lucky.
