I had a four poster bed before we moved to the beach, but sold it because I didn’t think it would fit in my decor. I was wrong. My new iron four poster bed comes today!

In the 90’s I had a Shaker four-poster bed with a Shaker step stool beside it. I’m pretty sure there was a plain Jane muslin bed skirt from Country Curtains, too — “country” the operative word for my decor style back then. What we called “country” has evolved + is now known as “farmhouse” style!

Those are lovely inspiration photos especially since I’m considering making some changes to my master bedroom. I’ve always been a “country” decor person, but I have not been tempted by the “farmhouse” style that is now so popular. I had not really made the connection that is made by Kay in the comment above, but it’s so true. I think sticking with what you love has something to do with age……:)

We have a Hickory Chair mahogany reed and ribbon four poster bed. It has very simple lines and we love it! It has seen many different styles of bedding over the last eleven years and can go many different design directions. I believe we will keep it forever because it is so classic. Currently it is styled like the House Beautiful spool bed picture. Blue and white is so clean and crisp! Beautiful inspiration pics!

I received a four poster bed when my husband & I celebrated our 20th anniversary.
I still have it – it now sits in the guest bedroom – It has always been a dream of mine to own one and I received it as a gift from my guy.
I love it, but it is a queen bed and I really wanted a king bed now.

    Have a great day.

Thank you for putting these pictures up. I have 2 4 poster beds but could not find anything inspiring to do with tbe rooms recently because so much that is posted is modern. I love the architectural digest blues!

What an awesome display of such beautiful beds/rooms. Thanks so much for tons of inspiration!

Thanks for showing these. I have the Ethan Allen Montego 4 poster bed, but struggle with having the box spring show at the bottom of the bed. I don’t want a bedskirt and we use a duvet, but the duvets are not long enough to cover both the mattress and the box springs. It looks like one of your photo’s has the box spring with it’s own cover but that look doesn’t appeal to me as my duvets are usually a pattern. Other than a bed skirt, which I didn’t really want, do you have any other advice?

We inherited a full size 4-poster when we first got married but after we upgraded to a queen it was relegated to the attic. I’m looking forward to pulling it out for our little girls to share.

Oh My! A four poster wouldn’t fit through my door up my stairs, and if I ever managed it, it would take up my whole room!
