Procrastinator Proclamations!
The Before Photos

It is time once again for us to join together in solidarity as procrastinators. Don’t be ashamed to admit it — you are not the only one with 20 projects you are wanting to get to but never do. You know the holidays are RIGHT around the corner and if we don’t buckle down and get some of these household projects done they just won’t happen until the new year. I for one want my project DONE before the holidays. And this is the only way it is going to happen.

I wish someone would come do it for me but so far, no volunteers.

You know I don’t like to paint furniture (especially the prep part) so I NEED YOU all to be out there tackling your own dreaded projects so I don’t feel so alone. You know, for moral support! I LOVE YOU GUYS!

And that is the beauty of our Procrastinator’s Party. We are all in the same boat for two weeks and in the end, we can celebrate and enjoy all the AFTER photos!

Here is the before photo of my project…

Procrastinator Proclamations!
The Before Photos

I’m finally going to tackle this dresser with the hutch. I love the wire doors on it and can’t wait to see it all prettied up. Now, as a disclaimer, I have nothing against natural wood. In fact, we ADORE natural wood at our home. But only if the wood is right for our home. This is oak and it just doesn’t work for me right now. There is a certain wood-to-painted furniture ratio I am after in this house and I want another painted piece.

I’ll tell you all about my plans for this piece in another post, but for now I’m ready to see what you all are going to tackle!

So how do you join the Procrastinator Party?

It is easy as 1, 2, 3.

1. Link up a post declaring your project — be sure to show your before photo to the world. Announcing it is part of the deal here ladies. If you don’t put it in black and white we can’t hold you accountable. And if we don’t hold procrastinators accountable, well, we all know what happens. So be bold and post your proclamations on your blog and then link up here — and/or if you don’t have a blog, share in the comments below! EVERYONE is welcome!

2. Then obviously you need to work on your project. Eh hem. Don’t skip this part like SOME OF YOU did (names withheld to protect the guilty) last time. Just sayin’.

3. Then return to The Inspired Room in two weeks (October 20th) to link up your AFTER PHOTOS! We’ll all visit you and praise you for your hard work. And you’ll have the satisfaction of a completed project!

Ready? You can do this. Off you go!

Ok, I am game. I participated last time with trying to recover a chair. I got that one started, but never finished it. It is still sitting there unfinished. I am not going to use that project this time. I have something else I need to get done first. This will be a good time to do that. I will post my before picture tomorrow. I had forgotten you were thinking of doing this again. This is the push I need. LOL!

Okay, OKAY! I am one of the guilty ones. I was supposed to make a checkerboard table last time and I didn’t . I felt like a complete failure. Just kidding. I am a procrastinator–not doing stuff is what I do. BUT–I am doing it this time. You’ll see! Posting tomorrow..

I can’t wait to see your finished piece. I like how you want a certain painted to natural ratio..I never thought of it that way.

Thanks for hosting the super fun party!

Coming from another new house dweller, I agree. The wood to painted wood ratio must be kept to what ones perception of what is EQUAL.

We have thick real wood trim, baseboards, floors cabinets etc. So that means I need to get off my batookie and get a’painting!

I sure could use this for a lot of projects but mine is not because of procrastinating. I am moving from Florida to northern Kentucky in 4 weeks and I am going to have plenty of decorating to do. No projects for me right now but I just started my first blog today and I am going to be working on that. I have been reading many great blogs for a couple of years now and I wanted to start one and join in on the fun. I love to decorate and cook and I thought this was a great time to start one since I am going to be decorating a new house. I have enjoyed making new friends online and hope to make more.

Well I know your topic is what I do best these days, so I should read and do otherwise. Actually, you inspired me for my last post. Sadly [without pics,] I was so inspired and in such a hurry to post it. At least I didn’t procrastinate that. lol. Love your blog. jo

We’ve been in our house for just over two years, and only now we’re installing the kitchen. It’s been a sink and a cook top for all this time. It was a major redo…, and after a year we needed a looooong break, and decided that the kitchen could wait…, now I’m looking forward to cook a great oven meal for Christmas!

Right. Taking my pictures tonight and will link up. I have chairs that I have the paint and fabric for, so I’m 1/8 of the way there! I think I can get three chairs done in two weeks. I think your piece would look fantastic painted.

This is the motivation I need to organize a mess in the basement. I’m an unorganized dishaholic. The number of dishes are too great for the shelf space and are currently spread out on the basement floor. This may sound like a small task, compared to others, wait until you see the photos – it’s embarrassing. Will take photos and post later today.

I am so joining this. I will make my declaration tonight (like a true procrastinator!)

My kitchen table will get finished. It has already been sanded, now it needs to be stained, and tiles added back to it.

I so need to paint the new door we installed leading from our house to our garage. It’s just sitting there in it’s primered state waiting for some nice high gloss paint. Oh, but I still can’t commit, maybe if I peruse the projet links it will motivate me. I’ll try. ;)

I’m going to try joining! Not sure if I’ll manage to get done in time to join the after party. I sure hope so! I’ve got so many projects to do but I’m hoping to get trim up on my main floor (window and door trim). Ugh…

What a fun time! I want to join so badly, because I admit…I’m a procrastinator with the best of you. And of course I have 3 major and honest excuses this month which make participating in time “not happening’. :( But I’m looking forward to being motivated by the time you all are finished so I can get started! :)

    Good luck ladies!
    Great motivation, Melissa!

Melissa, such fun to find you here moving forward with projects, tips, and reassurances for us all. I will be watching to see what color your piece is painted. Green? Wish that I were able to join in the fun, but I’ll get back to it one day. Blessings to you…
