When it rains, it pours...so many projects! <br>Happy Fourth!

Porch in progress

At my house, when it rains it pours.

And I’m not talking about all the depressing RAIN we are having in July (although I do live in Seattle and it is in fact raining). I’m talking about all the projects I’ve got going!

The other day I was feeling overwhelmed about my to do list (and not the fun type of to do list, the dreaded to do list that is piling up with things you want to put off). So, I decided I needed a little mini-break to work on something more fun, like house projects! To me doing projects is kind of like going to the spa, it lifts my spirits and makes me feel that all is right in the world! And when it rains house projects for me, it pours! I get a little crazy.

I made more progress on my porch by getting some plants, hanging the curtains I have had for a year now, and adding more more accessories, then I worked on a cabinet that I started way back here in another project frenzy, and I got started with a mirror I’ve wanted to work on for about 10 years. Yeah, I get around. Don’t judge. I’m slow and like to work on lots of things at once. I know I’m a little nuts. I think I have decorating ADD. I may be inching along, but at least I see progress in lots of places, little by little! And that makes me happy.

This is an awful picture but this is the mirror I am experimenting on (this is WAY early in the project, just my first swipes of color). It is kind of a gray/taupe neutral that is really pretty, so I am pleased with it! It was the first color I tried. I think it is going to get a few layers of paint and some sanding. I can’t believe it I have wanted to paint this for about ten years and am finally doing it! It was an awful dark dark brownish stain that has always bugged me. Why oh why did it take me 10 years to get around to this?

More progress on the cabinet!

I’ll update on all the projects later (sorry for all the teasers), but for now I wanted to share projects from blogland friends in my Inspiring Finds tumblr! I haven’t linked to my tumblr for awhile. Lots of cute 4th of July projects, recipes and other cool decorating finds too! Including an AMAZING CHICKEN COUP that I want to LIVE IN myself. Move over chickens. Yes, it is that amazing.

And don’t forget to browse all the wonderful link ups from the Inspired By post yesterday!

Last but not least, announcing the winner of the wonderful Lacefield Designs Pillow Giveaway from OBX Trading Group! Drumroll please….the winner of her choice of a Lacefield Designs Pillow is…

I wouldn’t mind if you sent that rain to us in Phoenix. I can’t remember when it last rained and today it’s 115 degrees.

Thanks so much for your message. I will email an update to you soon. It’s been extremely challenging but …there’s always hope on the horizon. I do much praying and working.

I always love to visit and see what you’re working on.

    Hugs to you,
    Debbie

I know I am going to love your mirror too~

I am not doing fun projects right now. Spreading mulch – 88 bags of it! And pulling weeds.

We are going to an outdoor concert tonight and tomorrow our little neighborhood is having it’s own fireworks. We have two couples coming over for a cookout.

    Happy and safe 4th!
    Hugs,
    Penny

p.s. thanks for the visit. I always enjoy seeing your smiling face.

Happy 4th July Melissa. I have many home projects I’d like to tackle but I keep putting off, it’s not easy during the summer months when school is out and I feel so lazy!

Happy Fourth! I hope to spend mine weeding flower beds, rearranging my porch, painting an antique chair and sanding it for a shabby finish — so many projects, so little time!

Have fun watching fireworks. I do not judge, my friend. I am also one who moves slowly and I confess to moving more slowly all the time. Your teases are fine, but I think that I can already tell that everything is going to look great. Happy 4th of July!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who procrastinates on these things! I’m the same way, where I have a lot projects that are completed in my head…but only in my head. Actually DOING it is a different story. Congrats on getting started…can’t wait to see the results!!

We’re going to a BBQ tomorrow night and since we don’t see fireworks from this location, have decided to play the original Trivial Pursuit board game. It should be lots of fun.

I love the mirror, what I can see of it.

We are getting lots of extra rain from the outer edges of Alex here in Houston.

We had to cancel our fourth annual fourth of July neighborhood pool party, but we are attending a home party with our dearest friends who moved to another neighborhood nearby a month and a half ago.

Can’t wait to see what she’s done with her home!

    Happy happy fourth!

We’ve got multiple projects going on in our house right now, too. Since my husband gets a 3-day weekend for the 4th of July, we decided to take advantage of it. It’s so great to finally get some things checked off my to-do list around here…

P.S. Thanks for linking to my post in your “Inspired Finds.” That was nice of you! :-)

I took the day to putter around, working on my OWN longsuffering projects. :p And just now, we walked down to the beach a block away and watched the fireworks from there. The parade is tomorrow. :D

I too “like to work on lots of things at once” and like to “see progress in lots of places, little by little” – which explains why my house looks the way it does both inside and out!
I have fixed up my patio this weekend, but the temps today and most of this week promise to reach about 100 degrees – UGH – so I doubt I’ll do any more work outside or spend more than a few minutes on my ‘new’ patio. My daughter and I saw our usual fireworks display Saturday evening and we had a picnic-style dinner with watermelon for dessert on Sunday, but my husband is laid up with a bad back so we couldn’t do much more than that.

Hope that you got through the 4th safe and sound. Ah, what would we do without our “list”? We would stay stagnant, and that is death. It inspired me so much to read that there is another person, who feels overwhelmed. Hang in there you’ll get it done- one day at a time. You have a beautiful blog.

    Fondly,
    Heidi
