Don't Miss It.

It is easy for the summer to fly by in a frenzy of activity, and yet miss the very moments that will someday mean the most to us. I don’t know about you but I want to spend most of my time doing things that will matter for years to come. Especially in blogland where inspiration abounds, it is easy to get caught up in the amazing makeovers and creative projects and nearly forget the people around us. I don’t want that to happen in my life.

A couple of summers ago, my kids and I spent a day together just being tourists in and around our new “hometown.” We had the best day ever visiting a wildlife preserve, enjoying the beauty of Hood Canal and ending the day in Port Townsend (Washington).

On the way back to the car at the end of the day, my three kids walked hand in hand down the side walk in front of me. Well, my girls walked. My son tends to hop or leap in the air. It was a rather ordinary sort of moment, but I have to tell you — I got completely choked up seeing them all together like that.

I’m over at (in)courage, sharing this tender moment with my kids…and what it means to me. Would you come share your tender summer moments?
