DIY Rustic Birch Bark Monogram

This post is sponsored by  The Home Depot but the wreath and ideas are my own.

Psssst……I did it.

I made this rustic birch branch monogram!

Remember when I told you I was going to try to make a monogram?

I have to say I am pretty tickled with how cute it turned out.

I cut the monogram myself from wood — with a power tool I had never used before.

AND, I didn’t cut my finger off.  Yay! I can still blog! {high fives!}

It isn’t perfect, but for my first try? I’m feeling pretty good about it.

My favorite part? I covered it with REAL bark from fallen branches that I picked up during a Fall walk.

Eek! I love love love the texture of the natural bark and moss.

It’s a rustic, woodland-ish, charming and fun DIY project

So, did you wonder if I could actually do this? Me, too.

This is adorable! I think it looks great! I don’t know why you say it’s not perfect. It’s not supposed to be perfect. It’s wood, it’s nature and I love it!!!

Thank you!! :-) I guess I meant my cutting of the monogram underneath wasn’t perfect :-), I’ll show you that part next time. But yes, the bark is very cool, I love it!

Dang, that looks amazing! We have lots of birch trees, and their bark would be perfect to use in a monogram!

I am really impressed. I don’t think I could get away with “borrowing” any of my hubby’s manly tools. He would grab it from me and tell me that he’d do it. But conversely I wouldn’t trust him anywhere near my sewing machine. I have a hard time not shuddering when he gets near the laptop and IPad. I would love to learn more about drills and such. I do have my own staple gun :-)

I love this and want to try to copy the idea…one of the first things I think I”ve seen here that is truly not a copy of what else is seen out there…you can’t BUY this, for sure! thanks!

Yeah, Melissa! (hands raised and pumping the air) I’m so proud of you. Great job! I love the rustic and natural tone of the monogram. You are such an inspiration. Now if my last name didn’t start with a “C” thus needing a jigsaw instead of a chop saw, I’d be in the garage right now.

Bark from the birch tree is just one of those iconic things…you see it and immediately your mind is transported to a cabin in the woods, a roaring fire, and a cup of cocoa. Your DIY is very nice.

Adorable – and you have all your fingers (bonus). I could see the same technique used to cover a container for the centre of the table. I love birch bark.
