It’s better to give than to receive, right?
Yes. Yes it is.
So, I really was trying my best to Christmas shop for other people this week :-). I was.
But then … THIS happened. See those photos? I couldn’t help myself….I have little willpower.

I love Pier 1 and am SO happy we have one near our home! They are one of my favorite go-to sources for gifts, furniture and rugs all year round (like my trellis chair, my round rug, my settee….)
But back to my Christmas shopping.
This week I found the perfect gifts for …
1. Cuddling.
Honestly. Could they be any cuter? I don’t know why but if it is furry and adorable, it ends up in my hands. These animals are seriously THE CUTEST ever. I first saw the owl a few months ago. I carried him all through the store, and finally left him sitting on a chair. But as soon as I got to the car, I felt like he was calling me and I had to go back. I’m weird. But see the owl’s feet? Could not resist. These furry friends make a great gift –for yourself. Because you won’t be able to part with them once you pick one up and give ’em a little squeeze. Just warning you.
2. Entertaining.
I think it is so fun to give and receive pretty little dishes and items for entertaining. We found several LOVELY things on our shopping trip that would make a perfect gift for a hostess or friend. Or, for yourself. In fact, I already washed the festive dishes, put the gorgeous napkin rings in my drawer and the absolutely beautiful wine glasses in my cabinet. Apparently, I cannot be trusted to buy nice gifts for anyone.

3. The kitchen.
I have a slight obsession with measuring spoons and cups. I love opening my baking drawer and seeing plenty of pretty baking tools! A few of my measuring cups have started to chip from use (yes, I actually USE my cute measuring cups!), so I was happy to find new ones! I would totally give them away if I didn’t already put them away in my own drawer.

4. The home.
When my husband and I got married years ago we decided that we would use holidays, anniversaries and birthdays to buy each other gifts for our first home. We loved giving ourselves new coasters, pretty serving bowls, good smelling candles or cozy throw blankets! Every year our house felt more and more like home as we were able to collect new things we loved during the holidays.
Even though we are on our sixth home, I obviously still like getting new things for our house! I already set the coasters on my coffee table. And the bowl on my dining room table. And I’ve been snuggling with that furry throw so I probably already drooled on it. But to redeem myself slightly, I did give the candle away before I could burn it. :-)

My daughter and I were in Pier One looking for a Christmas stocking for her {she has outgrown her Justin Bieber one}. She is 16 and this is her first year to be doing online school. She now helps me with some of the cooking. She noticed the cups and spoons and wanted them, but at that time we were in there for something else. I think I will go get these for a present for her. She just might want to help out with the cooking a lot more often. I also think the owl and the fox would be cute for my doodles.
