Behind the Scenes

Thank you all for being so supportive about my book announcement! I so appreciated all of your encouragement and enthusiasm–you are the best. This has been quite an adventure so far! At times I feel like I’m having an out of body experience, but I am getting more and more excited about the process. I’m really happy with how the books are coming together so far. The next few weeks will be crazy behind the scenes (as you can probably see by the state of my kitchen during the aftermath of a photoshoot) as I am turning in the first two titles by September 1st!

We got to see the cover art and some design elements for Love The Home You Have on Friday and we are completely in love with it! It’s going to be such a fun book. It was exciting to get our first glimpse of what it will look like…I think you will love it too!

We are also hard at work on the other book that will be out next spring as well, I wish I could tell more about it but for now these little sneak peeks of what we are working on will have to suffice. We are having so much fun!

I’ll be back with an update on some more house projects, after we clean up the kitchen. Heheh.

PS. If you missed our front door makeover last week, you can find that here, see our back deck makeover here, or see the progress so far on the laundry room!

Thanks for giving us a peek at your photo shoot. I am constantly learning when it comes to taking photos and what I’m trying to say. I love your table — we used to have one of those :-) It will be exciting following your book publishing. Your kitchen looks like mine when I’m busy trying to get things done. :-)

Melissa – Congratulations on your upcoming books and the Readers’ Choice Favorite Decorating Blog (I put in my vote!)! I’ve been following your blog now for at least a couple of years and look forward to adding your books to my ideas collection at home. Your blog is inspiring and down-to-earth. Whenever I need a pick-me-up during the day, your posts always provide that at-home, cozy, curl-up-in-a-chair-with-a-cup-of-coffee that is needed in the midst of all the craziness. All the best!

I love this! I love the reality of it, as we have all been there! Messed up kitchens, stuff on the floors, things hidden behind pieces of furniture! It is nice getting a real glimpse into the makings of what we all do, and nice knowing you are not the only one! Such wonderful and exciting news about your book(s)! Keep inspiring!

I’m so happy for you — really, I am!

Also, I really like that sconce in your kitchen — we’re hanging a couple above the sink in our kitchen re-do!

It was funny to see your gorgeous kitchen a mess since we’re conditioned to land on a design blog and be dazzled with beauty.

But what a fun idea to include us in your journey. Thank you!

I thought in an earlier post when you mentioned about the “kids” that you were going to supply links to their blogs. Did I misunderstand? Do they have blogs? And if so, you know we want to peek!

You are so right, Melissa! Photo shoots are fun, but usually complete mayhem behind the lens. I love the finished product, but OY, the mess it can create! Thanks for keepin’ it real…and for all the hard work you put in so that we can enjoy some beautiful images!
