From time to time I like to share some of my FAQ from readers on the blog.
Today I thought I would answer a question I get quite often about this room we call our “media room.” I haven’t talked about this room much, so no wonder there are always questions about the sectional and how it’s holding up! A couple of years ago we decided to create a media space upstairs in one of the bedrooms and move our TV from the family room upstairs. It’s not a really big room, so to make this space really cozy and functional for a big group to gather around for movie or game watching, we got a La Z Boy sectional years ago (the Collins).
I have to say that over two years and several dogs later, we still LOVE our sectional. It is so comfy, so soft, and has been really durable. None of the fears I had in choosing this sofa were founded, the wild dogs, the teen boy, the food … none of it has damaged the sectional!
We use this room all the time. We have dreams of ripping out the carpet and adding hardwoods in here, but that’s a someday plan (and honestly, how in the world does one get new hardwood floors in a fairly small room when you have a giant sectional like this? Hmmm). My husband uses this space as an office, too (he works from home during the week, still for our church) and so lately we’ve been working on a few changes to the space which I can show you once I find the time to take pics. :)
PS. The new leather love seat (toffee leather) I ordered back in September for the family room downstairs (see my post about why we are getting leather here) is scheduled to be delivered TODAY! Yay! Bonus, I got 25% because it was on sale. I’ll let you know what I think about it, soon!

I love leather too- my son says that cows must quiver and run when they see me!!! So congrats on such a happy day.
We have a big puffy LazyBoy (and Girl) sofa down in the media room to in Seattle. It is down-filled and the leather after almost five years is doing very well (you go LB). I got the one that pushes up and boy is that nice. My hubby was aghast at the thought of having the puffiness and bigness but he loves it now. We ordered it off the floor that they were just putting it down and they followed us home to install it. We got a C-table from Pier one that has slate on top (take abuse with beer and other snack items) and we share it between us- they do not make that model anymore but they have lots available at http://www.pier1.com/furniture/accent-tables/c-tables,default,sc.html#nav=top since we had a coffee table (IKEA) but reclined you cannot reach it easily- oh the joys of reclining. The fancy sofa and chair are upstairs in the great room so this is cave heaven~~~ you can see Downton Abby and then watch the birds between at the pond.
That sounds like a great place to hang out and watch DA! And the birds at the pond too? Heavenly!! Love it. Those C-tables look cool, I’ve considered those before too and just might have to try one sometime!
Your couch looks so comfy but my eye was drawn to the curtains. Where did you get them? Thanks, Elizabeth
Thanks! I got the curtains at World Market. :-)
Makes me wan to curl up and watch a movie! Serious comfort there…
I’ve not considered Lazy Boy recently. I’ll have to look into there newer offerings.
What is the color you used on the walls? I’m looking for a taupe for my den and I like yours.
I have that same clock and LOVE it!
What fabric and color name is your sofa? Love it!!
You had me at navy! I love your sectional, of course! We have a 15+ year-old navy couch that was purchased just seconds before sectionals became a ‘thing’ again! HA! Isn’t that always the way? If you love navy, then surely you must follow Emily Henderson (stylist who won HGTV’s Design Star) — she is the queen of navy!
You had to wait a LONG time for the leather couch, oh my! I am wanting to do a sectional in our very small Spare Oom because we can then snuggle in to watch movies with our grandsons. :)
