Hooks in the Entry {Love Where You Live!}

So, a few weeks ago we hung hooks in our entry. Impressed? Ha. It isn’t a big Pinterest-worthy reveal, but having a place to hang our stuff when we walk in the door made us feel like we are at home.

Hooks on our plain white walls in our humble front hallway are not as dreamy as a brand new mudroom (complete with planked walls and built-in cubbies just inside our dream Dutch Door), but the hooks serve our needs and help organize our family nearly (well, almost) as well.

Simple things are really all we need.

Planked walls, herringbone floors, charming new lighting, beautiful doors and windows and remodeled mudrooms might be high on our house-loving wish-list (and there’s no shame in being able to add those things) but when you just go get yourself some hooks and hang them on the boring old drywall you are reminded (once again) that it’s really the little things we do (and are grateful for) that will make our house a home.

I feel like a broken record when I tell people to put hooks in the entry. It is a simple project, and pays huge rewards. Hooks all over, and make sure some are low enough for the children to reach!

I have a set of hooks outside my back door (under a covered porch.) Great place to hang the wet umbrella, garden gloves and tools, the small basket with bug spray and such. I also hang a hand towel during the gardening season. Easy to clean and dry hands before you walk in the house. One fall I put the towel across a couple hooks and a bird decided it was a nice place when the temps dropped. I ended up with a startled bird in the house when I opened the door in the morning!

Good news concerning your new book – my library system has ordered copies of it. I would guess eight copies since that is what they have for each of your other two books. And I am first on the hold list – yea!

They may just be simple hooks, but aren’t Pottery Barn designs the greatest!

Congratulations on winning the blog award two years in a row!

I’m a fan of hooks, too! Super functional and so many options. Less mess and more organized: win win.

Love those hooks! Just took a peek on line and they are on sale!! Woo-hoo. ..did you get the 14 or the 30 inch? Think the short one will work best for me or my husband will hang all his hats there!! Try to explain to a man that it is partly for decoration.

Love those hooks! Woo-hoo on sale..gathered my credits to use. Did you get the 14 or 30 inch? I think the 14 inch is just right or my husband will want to hang all his hats there. Try to tell a man its partly for decoration.

Those hooks are awesome and easy! I can’t wait to do a project where the hooks are made out of doorknobs!!

I love my hooks at the side entrance to hold the dog leashes. Everyone knows where they go and you don’t waste time looking for the dog leash when one of the dogs is whining to go out.

      I totally agree! :)

I love a designated entryway with hooks. That way my purse doesn’t end up kicked around the house!

Yes Melissa, I agree. Hooks, wonderful hooks. Maybe it goes with the sentiment that you need a place to hang your hat. And when you hang your hat, you’re home. It is the little things that carry a lot of weight in importance. Love your hooks!

love the look! Can I ask where you got the “Palazzo” sign above the door?

I have key hooks hanging by the deck door. But by the front door I hung a folk art style “hall tree” I guess you’d call it. Looks great and so handy! I hang my umbrella and my jacket and I decorate it with my daddy’s hats.
I also put hooks down in the basement near the stairs to come up to the first floor. So handy!

Hooks are practical accessories for the entryway, but they don’t need to be boring! It’s possible to find hooks that are also a great decoration. No matter what you choose, it should reflect your home’s style.
