Thank you for bringing us the beautiful porches! We’re just starting to get weather nice enough for us to sit out and enjoy our porch. Over the winter, I forget how good that lovely breeze feels!

  2. Kay

Yum! This may be a cliche, but when you treat an outdoor space as if it was an indoor space, it’s usually pretty epic!

Oh boy, this was a hard post for me to look at…I have serious porch envy! I grew up in houses with big porches and adored them. Now I have a small stoop. I have squeezed in an adirondack chair with comfy cushions and do spend quite a bit of time out there but still dream about having a real porch. Looking forward to seeing yours. :)

Thanks, Karen, sounds like there are a few of us with more of a “stoop” than a porch. I’m thinking a “stoop inspiration post” might need to happen at some point! :-D

        Yes, please do!!

I’m with you – only a covered “landing” on the front…there is a patio in back, but no roof, which changes things significantly. Still, thankful for some outside space.

      • Karen

Same Missy…thankful to have some outside space. :)

I love porches! These are great inspiration!

Oh, to have a porch….I will have to make do with my covered patio/deck. Having said that, there is much inspiration here for me as well! Beautiful!

Dawn, I too have porch envy! I live Ina townhouse with a deck. Love sitting out there in the afternoons when it gets shady. yes, so much inspiration!

We have a back porch above our patio and we’ve been working on making it a cozy space. On Saturday we attended a localmHorseshoevCrab Festival,in our park and purchased a sweet canvas print depicting a seashore theme of children frolicking in the water..it had a 1920’s vibe. Perfect for the back wall of our porch! just thevfeelmwe wanted for our coastal, home! Thanks forvsharing the gorgeos porchnphotos! They are inspiring! Imcantbwait tomsee what youve done with yourvside porch with your enviable view of the sound! ?

Obviously none of those gorgeous photos shows a front porch in the desert of Arizona. We simply don’t have that luscious greenery and our homes generally weren’t built with big front porches. I’m lucky to be living in one of a few HOA communities in the Sun City West 55+ master-planned community with a greenbelt with grass and trees but everywhere around us there’s rock and often only a few scruffy cactus and maybe an occasional fruit tree. Not very inspiring. And already flirting with triple-digit temps, our front courtyards and back patios are already being covered or emptied to protect things from the scorch of the sun.
So i sit gratefully at my desk and look across the LR out the huge picture window at the grass and my luscious grapefruit tree and then do an exercise in virtual reality by enjoying beautiful pics such as these.

Miss the chance to comment on your dining room tweaks but particularly loved the turquoise planter on the rattan etagere and the fact that the color was repeated in the inside of a coffee mug in the kitchen and I was thinking what a great accent color that was in your room. In fact, was thinking that a drum table like the one in the Coastal Living pic above could look super under the crane pix, would brighten the area up just a tad and would tie the planter and the coffee mug together perfectly.

Eager awaiting pix of your side patio.

At first glance I thought the title said “How to celebrate a porch”. So.. I celebrate these gorgeous decorated porches. My back porch is hands down my favorite place to be….

Love a faded blue ceiling, a porch swing on ropes, old stuff combined with comfy chairs. And an iced cold drink and a stack of magazines at hand …

I love porches and feel so envious of the big porches where you can sit and relax! I’d love to see some ideas for a small stoop – just a very small porch with room for something beside the door plus a tiny bit more, perhaps. We have a small porch with room on one side for a small feature. It’s not a porch where we would choose to sit and watch activity on the busy street in front of us but a small porch that needs to add curb appear. Nothing formal or traditional – just inviting and cozy.

That’s what I have, a tiny stoop with a tiny bit more! :) Great idea for another inspiration post, thanks Adrienne!

Melissa! Oh my goodness, thank you so much for all of these beautiful porch-inspo pictures! My family and I are moving to Arizona next month and are not quite sure what our porch situation is going to look like (hopefully covered and shaded from the hot desert sun!) I’m from the south and plan to bring that “front porch living” with me to AZ and into my porch decor; that sky blue ceiling was speaking my love language!

You did it ~ inspired me to take up the project of making my outside space into an inviting room!

Thank you for the wonderful inspiration! We are going to go on a 2-year RV adventure, and planning on staying in parks that have a home-like setting. I am racking my brains on how to make our outdoor space homey. This has giving me some great ideas. Going to pick up an umbrella for sure!
