Pink Rooms & BloggingHouse Beautiful

Greetings, sweet friends! Who doesn’t love a little pink these days? Everyone seems to be into pink! It has always been one of my favorite accent colors, even though I don’t use it a lot. But I do love a pop of pink here and there this time of year. It makes the house feel like spring (come back tomorrow to see my new pink pillows!).

Thank you so much for the fantastic responses regarding the possibility of a homemaking series. From all of the comments shared (and feel free to keep commenting on that post!), it looks like the series would be helpful and of interest to many of you! I’m happy to hear what you’re interested in; I think it will be fun to start pulling ideas together so I can get some posts going very soon!

I also wanted to thank you for the comments, emails and messages some of you sent me in general recently, just to see how I was doing! I was SO happy to get your notes. YOU ARE THE SWEETEST! I was really touched to hear you were thinking of me and took the time to let me know I was missed. Thank you. While haven’t been able to respond to all your messages yet, I am so grateful for your support and the encouragement!

Pink Rooms & BloggingLonny

Some of you mentioned you were missing my regular morning emails! Aww, you guys! You reminded me of how much I miss the old days of blogging. I’ve always felt that blogging was so special because of the close community that formed through it. I still feel that way! Sometimes with the rise of social media, it feels like the internet has gotten so big and spread out. I do think it’s great that so many have built communities on social media platforms now–I go there, too (mainly Instagram)!

But honestly, I really do miss the good ol’ days of blogging when everyone gathered around the morning blog posts with their cup of coffee (making the rounds to all of their favorites!). I’m so grateful so many of you still venture over here to visit, or I’d be super lonely here writing notes to myself. :) What a sad day that would be!

So here’s the thing, I’ll keep blogging as long as you’re still letting me know that you’re here. :) How’s that? I don’t know about other bloggers, but I’m not going anywhere. I still love being here with you guys!

Happy Monday!

I miss those blogging days too! We’ve been blog friends for a long time.

I’m still blogging nearly every day. Its fun to share life with a sweet community of friends!

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

Thanks, Deanna! Even though we miss the old days, it really is so special that we still have community through blogging. I’m grateful!!

I am still here. I often wonder if blogging is dying, but it is still truly my favorite. I love the decor and all the pretty ideas, but I still love the real life too. The community.

Morning blog reading with a cup of tea is still part of my routine, but I do miss the old days of blogging. I just can’t keep up with all the demands of the other social media but I guess things are always changing… I have always enjoyed reading your blog!
    Shelley

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

Yay for morning blog reading! I’m so glad you still enjoy that daily ritual. Perhaps people will grow tired of social media, it really is hard to keep up with it all! Thank you so much. xo

  8. Sallie

Like Calypso, I enjoy your blog every morning with a cup of tea. I have missed you, but I assumed you were busy with other ventures (you have a few!). Hope you are well, and it was good to see your new post today! Happy Valentine’s Day (in 2 days)!

  16. Diane @ An Extraordinary Day

    Deal!!!
Melissa… the conversations aren’t what they used to be in the blogging world and I miss it too. BUT… a gal can only spread herself so thin. And I know you are doing A LOT these days with your oily biz too!
Thanks for introducing me to the blogging world. It’s been life-changing in so many ways. In fact… life-giving. Seriously… my blog gave me a reason to get up many mornings during that desert season.
I have appreciated your “long distance” influence more than you will ever know, sweet friend. xoxo

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

Hi Diane, I’m so glad we met through the blog!! I’m also thrilled that starting your own has been such a blessing. My blog (and book writing) is still my main focus, you’re right, we can’t be everywhere (that’s why social media isn’t my main thing!). My girls have even taken over a lot of the oils biz side of stuff for me now since it’s grown so much (love it, too!)! I wouldn’t change my blogging experience for anything, I hope to be blogging for many years to come. <3

Thank you for your kind words and friendship, Diane!

  17. Peggy

You’re the only blogger I follow because of your approach to how we should view the houses we’ve been blessed with and your overall message of contentment in spite of (and sometimes because of) the financial limitations we might have when it comes to decorating our homes. I’m as grateful for your reminders to love the homes we have as I am for all your beautiful and creative decorating ideas. I enjoy your posts so much. Thank you and keep up the great work!

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

You’re precious, thank you, Peggy. I’m so glad you enjoy the blog and the message! That focus has always been so important to me, too! xoxo

  18. Patty

Please don’t go away! I do so enjoy your blog – seeing your beautiful home – reading about your sweet pups! Learning from you – laughing with you – all of it! :)

  19. Liz Menish

My Cottage Journal magazine arrived and I immediately downloaded your web site. I love the dining room beaded chandelier with grey wooden beads. Where can I buy that !
I wil be a faithful follower. Love your home and comforting style

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

Welcome, Liz!! That’s so great, thank you for finding me on the blog and your kind words. I’m so glad you’re here. The chandelier is from Restoration Hardware (you’ll find it in the teen section, it’s a more manageable scale and just as great of quality!).

  20. Katy Beacher

Thank you and please keep blogging. I’m new to blogging and I’m 85 years old. I went into this social media stuff kicking and screaming. After I became housebound and looking for something to do besides knitting I discovered the fun of blogging and article writing. Thank you again for your great suggestions and images.

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

Oh, that is so exciting, Katy! I’m so glad you’ve discovered blogging, WELCOME! You are inspiring!! Blogging really is fun, isn’t it? Thank you for your comment and I’m so glad you’re here.

  21. Jo Jo

Please don’t ever stop blogging! I am here everyday! I’d miss you terrribly! ❣️ Love your pink inspiration photos today! I was just thinking about doing my winter decor turn- over to my Spring decor this week! I use pinks, creams, beiges and blue! The weather has been warming up and we’re getting lots of rain…feels like spring here already! Pink is one of my favorite colors in florals as well. Valentine’s Day seems like my least busiest day this week, so I will be getting my Spring decor out of hiding and start my freshening up our home!

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

Hello, Jo Jo! I’m so happy to have such loyal and encouraging blog friends (like you!) to hang out with me. Truly, it’s a blessing.

Enjoy your spring refresh, I’ve been so in the mood to do the same thing. GOODBYE WINTER, I’m over you. :)

  22. Laura

Morning coffee with blogs like The Inspired Room are the only way to start my day!

  23. Laura Reimer

I have a couple of blogs I follow daily and I write one Monday through Friday with only a few missed days here and there. I love that we can connect with others this way – Yours is one of my daily checks and I still pull up the Christmas one to show friends when one of your dog ate an ornament…that face! Blogs like yours remind me that we can love and care for and appreciate people all around the world because we are all humans with similar wins and losses, ups and downs, interests and desire to learn and grow. You are a blessing in so many ways so yes! Please continue to blog!

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

So thoughtful, Laura, thank you so much! Grateful for such kind readers to share in this journey. <3

  24. Debbie - MountainMama

I always enjoy your posts, Melissa – the photos are always inspiring, as are your words – I agree with the rest, don’t ever stop blogging! Loving the bits of pink also this year, I added some splashes of pink in my guest room and every time I open the door it makes me smile!

  25. Katrina

    Melissa,
I have been reading your blog for at least two years and read your posts every day. I love your warm, inviting, and conversational writing. I’m not going anywhere, either ? -Katrina

  26. Megan Buckman

I’m here and I love the blog! I was also able to order one of your books to tide me over between posts.

  27. Deb

    Great blog, keep it coming.

  28. Jennifer Feucht

I totally enjoy your posts! Glad you are here!

  29. Joanna

I guess without comments you feel like you’re talking to yourself.? I’ll try to more consistent.

  30. Wendy Cruttenden

If I had a little girl or was single but it seems pink comes and goes.

  31. Sheila

Thanks so much for sharing the pretty pink furniture. That sofa is to die for! Pier 1 has the prettiest pink chairs but its so hard to make a commitment!! Help! Settling for pink pillows is much more economical but not as much fun.?

  32. Nancy Kantor

I follow you on Instagram and enjoy that but I’ve missed your blog posts so was happy to get one today…and with such pretty pictures of one of my favorite colors too?

  33. Pat M.

I would so miss you and others if there were no daily blogs. It’s part of my routine to get up, let the dogs out while my coffee brews, let them back in and head to my desk with a big cup of coffee to see what blogging wisdom is waiting for me on my computer. Without blogs to read, what excuse would I use to put off doing the laundry, vacuuming, dusting, etc???

  34. Sharon

Melissa! I typed a really long comment this morning but it isn’t there! Who knows what happened. Technology is a love/hate thing with me. Anyhoo, I love your blog! From the big things to the small things, I really enjoy your content. Your blog was one of the very first ones I ever read, and I love that you’ve stayed true to home inspiration. So many have changed over to “lifestyle” blogs. I’d love to see you post some of your puttering outcomes like- Today I rearranged my mantel. I love a good kitchen renovation as much as anyone, but unless you are continuously moving, that isn’t realistic. Share your small changes and something that inspired you that day. Just please don’t stop blogging. I enjoy my coffee with you every time you post! ?

  35. Karen

I really liked the pink pillows on the window seat. I wonder how they were made so big and fluffy. Thanks for sharing all the pretty pictures.

  36. valarie sanford

    I’m here too!

  37. Claire

Claire from Vancouver, BC here! Long time reader, first time commenter. I love reading your blog, it’s really great to get a west coast design perspective! Please keep the posts coming.

  38. Sue Davies

    Melissa,
I love your blog and hope you will continue it. I always look forward to it. I love all your great ideas and keeping up with what’s going on in your life. Keep blogging and I’ll keep reading.
    Sue in Fl.

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

Ah, thanks so much Sue. It’s my pleasure to post knowing so many great blog friends are out there reading!

  39. Debby

I strongly agree with Sharon–the big home remodels are fun, but it’s also fun and satisfying to rearrange the mantel or a coffee table or the kitchen counters. I’ve learned so much from you about organizing, too–but mostly I’ve learned how to appreciate the home I have and how to make it beautiful and welcoming for my family and friends. Please keep blogging, Melissa! Like so many of your other followers have said, yours is the only decorating blog I follow because you are not only a thoughtful (and budget-conscious) decorator/designer, but you are also such a lovely person. Your writing is warm and inviting, just like your home. I’m here for the long run!

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

Thank you so much for the sweet comment, Debby! I’m so touched by all of the support. I feel a renewed sense of joy for what I do reading through all these comments, so thank you for your encouragement. xo

  40. Bonni Bonneville

Who did the roman shades? They’re lovely!!
    Bonni426

  41. Lindy

The Inspired Room is a blog that I enjoy very much with my coffee and that I hope to continue enjoying. I have found myself dropping off of blogs that seem to be used as advertising for other social medias which I found regretful and if there is too much of go see me at so-and-so I actually fully delete myself from those kind of blogs.

Everyone needs to go with the most exposure I do understand, but there is a limit some of us do not wish to participate in. Happy Spring to you when it is here.

  42. Jacqueline Csutor

Hi Melissa ..I love reading your blog, yours is the only one I look at. I really appreciate the work and thought you put into it. Please continue and many thanks.. Jacqui x

  43. Kelsey Ensz

My grandma had a pink room in her house. I remember staying in the “pink room” as a child. Pink curtains, pink carpets, pink comforter, pink pillows! My sister and I loved to sleep in that room! This was a fun post!

  44. Betty Ann

Hey, I’m new here. Just arrived from 2007. A few weeks ago, when I stumbled on your blog I jumped back to the beginning to see who you are and what you are about. Loved what I saw. Kept reading, then jumped to 2013 and continued to this present moment. What a joy. As a result of your inspiration I have emerged from my northern Michigan winter coma to refresh my living room, my bedroom and bath. Took a load to “Goodwill” and then ordered online. (new lamp etc arrives today). DIY’d a footstool cover, bed pillows and bolsters. Hauled out the diffuser and brought in some plants.

With deep gratitude I say keep blogging. I’ll be drinking coffee whenever the posts arrive.

    • Melissa @ The Inspired Room

Oh you’re the cutest, thank you so much!! I’m glad you made the quick journey through the years (that’s amazing!), and wow, I’m thrilled that you felt inspired and plan to stick around. That means so much!! Thank you! xoxox
