Few decorative elements will make your home feel as welcoming and festive as a seasonal wreath to greet you (and your guests) as you arrive home. Even if you don’t do anything else to decorate for a season, hanging a wreath on your door can be enough. It makes a great statement!
Somehow hanging a wreath on the door makes me feel a little more put together and on top of things.
Do you feel that way, too?
I love my new autumn wreath (it’s so stunning! This one is from Balsam Hill, it looks like it is sold out right now but look at their other fall wreaths or even Christmas and winter ones!). It just makes me so happy!
If you are wondering how to hang a wreath on the door (without damaging the door), even one with glass like mine, it’s actually pretty simple! All doors are different, of course, so you may find a better way, but here’s what I do.
I don’t use a wreath hanger, I just use a flat thumb tack (like the type you’d use on a cork board) and some string. Sometimes I’ve even used fishing wire so it’s clear, but regular ol’ string or twine works just fine, too.
I forgot to take a photo of this part, but I press the flat tack into the very top of the door itself, so you can’t even see it. Then the string is looped around the tack as well as tied onto the wreath. Easy peasy!
Do you have a seasonal wreath on your door?

Another way to hang wreaths damage-free….https://www.buzzfeed.com/nataliebrown/hooks-can-make-it-happen?utm_term=.maOG6x284m #17.
I have a pretty simple grapevine wreath on our door, but I haven’t spent a lot of effort on this area because of all the rain – and it needs to be repainted so badly. Once I do that, I am going to use an outdoor command hook I found at Target. Our door has glass, but it is well above the wreath area. I am loving the neutrals this Fall!
I am all about seasonal wreaths on exterior doors as well! This year though, instead of a traditional fall wreath, I’ve a very pretty metal one that is a wreath with fall leaves, all coppery and black and some gold then a metal welcome sign attached to it. I love it! I just used a clear Contact hook to hang it. Works like a charm. Your new Fall wreath IS STUNNING, Melissa! ?❤️?❤️
I use fishing line to hang mine. It virtually disappears were string shows. I love your fall wreath. Balsam Farms makes beautiful wreaths for anytime of the year.
Melissa, your wreath is stunning! I just signed up to be notified, if/when they restock them. Thanks for sharing where you got it. Thanks also for the wreath-hanging tip.
I love seasonal wreaths! I snagged one at Frontgate! I love yours too! I love that Dutch door Melissa!

That’s exactly how I hang my wreaths! Sometimes I use a thick ribbon wrapped around front to back and tack the ribbon on top of the door.
Just a little fyi: often, a blanket or throw purchased from Target has a ribbon with velcro ends wrapped around the label. They are the perfect size to use for hanging wreaths!
Love the wreath. I use a small Command hook on the inside of my door upside down and it works perfectly for all my wreaths. Have one on my back door as well. I absolutely love Command hooks!!!
