Blue + White + Natural Coastal Style

It sure can take awhile to get into a groove when you move into a new-to-you home! I’ve always felt that if you are on a budget, have other priorities and/or the house has unique needs or opinions of its own it takes at least three years to find a groove.

We will have lived here four years this fall and I feel like we are just barely getting ourselves pulled together, let alone the house. HA! Moving has always been kind of an ordeal for us. But I think we are rounding the corner to where every design decision we have to make is becoming a little bit easier, so that feels great.

Trying to decide the most comfortable color scheme and determine the style your house wants to be doesn’t always happen overnight, especially if your house has a mind of its own. For best results, you have to get to know your house and what it wants first. With some houses, that can take time, trial and error.

But I feel like this old gal (the house, not me, but I guess it applies to me too, hahahahahah) is settling into the fresh updated look she feels most comfortable with.

The natural wood hues and shades of blue and white (and some deep greens!) feel right. A subtle, natural modern coastal vibe seems to fit, so we’re going with it!

I love working with a mostly neutral palette because it is so flexible. I enjoy that the shades of blue and white elements can be played up or down, depending on the season, room, or even my mood! It’s fun to have that flexibility and creativity.

I got it from Birch Lane a few years ago! If you look in the Shop My House tab via the menu at the top of the blog I often have my house sources or similar items!

Your home, although small, has all the elements of a cozy and comfortable place to live. I love cozy. I love comfortable. If style happens along with cozy and comfortable, that’s a bonus. You’ve done a wonderful job of creating a true family home, not just one for the Pinterest boards.

Thank you so much, Pat! We are loving this cozy little house more and more! It makes me so happy as we design a home for our family that others like yourself are able to enjoy it with us, too. <3

I’d say you’ve found your groove in this home! Love the light bright coastal vibe you’ve got going on! We live near he ocean as well, and Inam a lover of neutrals and blues and whites in my;home! Coastal is my home’s vibe as well. I never tire of blue and white. Most fed it since I as a little girl and memories of my grandparents summer lake cottage. She has fresh white kitchen and beautiful blue and white willow ware! I’ve always loved it. So much so, I hav a full set of my own and use it more than my fine china for entertaining and everyday!
