One of the design choices we made during our kitchen remodel was to have a cabinet front dishwasher, which is technically called a panel-ready dishwasher. A panel-ready dishwasher is specifically designed to hold a cabinet front.
I really wanted this option for our kitchen because I knew it would help to streamline the look of our cabinets. I love how it offers symmetry on either side of the farmhouse sink.
Many cabinet manufacturers will offer a matching dishwasher panel as an option, so be sure to ask about these options when you are selecting appliances and cabinetry if this is a feature you’re interested in!

The long bar on our dishwasher is a regular cabinet pull. It was purchased to match our other hardware and added to the panel for us by our contractor. It works great to open the dishwasher and doubles as a towel bar!

Hi there, Melissa!
I have been following your blog for awhile now, and remembered you had suggested this earlier. So, when I remodeled my kitchen last year, I followed your advice. I love the symmetry the cabinet panel provides, but I also love how much easier a panel is to keep clean than a stainless steel dishwasher front!
Hi Gwen, I’m so glad it was a helpful tip! I agree, it’s nice all around!! Thank you for sharing (and following!)
I am using a panel on my dishwasher. Completely confused as to what size pull to order. I have 2″ panel border. An 8″ seems a little small. My selection for my hardware is the Lexington style from Water Sreet Brass. Suggestions please.
Oh my…All I see is that farmhouse kitchen sink which I love. Im hoping to get one soon. LOVE IT
