A dirondack chairs and summer just seem to go together, don’t they? I only have one in my yard (we had one other, but we had to recycle it when the wood rotted after years hanging out through Seattle winters). But I’ve long envisioned having them on a front porch or a circle of them around a fire pit.

Even though we don’t have a big enough porch for chairs or even have a fire pit at this house, I can dream. In fact, I decided to grab two Adirondack chairs (they are on such a great sale HERE!) to at least get the look somewhere in my yard. I think I’ll put them by our backyard shed!

Eventually I would love to create a fire pit area like we had in our old house (make our DIY version HERE). I’ll share more inspiration for my next phase of backyard ideas in an upcoming post, but I have dreams of a flagstone patio around the shed, and a pea gravel walkway that will go form the deck to the shed. Lined with garden planter boxes and of course, nearby a fire pit circled by Adirondack chairs.

DREAM MUCH? Yes, I do.

For now, two chairs by the shed will have to do!

Here are some inspiration photos with adirondack chairs so you can dream along with me.

I love the look! But after a certain (I was going to say age) physical point getting out of them is almost impossible without help. And I’m now trying not to buy stuff I’m not going to be using, just because it’s pretty. But the Adirondack chairs do recall a time of leisure near a lake or fire pit.

I also love adirondack chairs. A few years ago we shopped to buy them at “By the Yard”, a company in Shakopee, MN, near where I live. All of their products are made from 100% recycled materials, weatherproof (even outside through harsh Minnesota winters) and last (as in like new) for decades without fading or any need of repair. (No, this is not a paid commercial for them) They are pricey, but well worth it considering we will have decades of use. We consider them heirloom pieces that will be passed down the generations. We chose rockers instead and we sit on our deck watching the birds, enjoying the trees and pleasant breezes. We have a huge Maple tree near our elevated deck which makes me feel like I am in a tree house. We are truly blessed.
