Sweet Escape: Blog Talk Radio & Beach Style

by Melissa @ The Inspired Room

What a week! I had lots going on this week, so I am glad it is finally Friday!

I know I promised you all a link to my Blog Talk Radio appearance on The “O” Myth, so here it is. It was so fun chatting (live!) with the delightful hosts of that program, Brandie, The Home Office Organizer, and Krista of Organize In Style. So as a little diversion from the usual blog reading, feel free to pour yourself a cup of coffee and listen in our our conversation about decorating and the William Morris quote: “Have nothing in your house which you do not find to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”

Paula from Neutral Dwelling is hosting a Photo Story Friday today where she is asking people to post photos of anything regarding design or our homes. Feel free to join in! In my post today, I am sharing a couple of images from one of my favorite shops in Cannon Beach, Sesame and Lillies. I have a growing fondness for “classy beach and relaxed summer decor” and this store really captures that for me! I It is a beautiful place to spend lots of time browsing and absorbing ideas. I love it!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

This looks just great!! Wish I could go there but it’s a bit too far from home LOL.
How nice for you to be on the radio. Guess you had lots to talk with the hostesses.
Hope you have a good and relaxing weekend.

Hi Melissa, I am in love with the classy beach style too. Today at our little junky local flea market I found some pretty old bottles in beachy colors of aqua but the lady was asking too much for them. In that first photo of yours I love that display of old fishing floats. Years ago I found two of them at an antique shop and bought them not having any idea what they were. They have been sitting in my living displayed on top of pewter candle stick holders. It was only a couple of months ago that I found out what they actually were. Hope you are having a fantastic weekend. ~ Lynn

I’m listening to you now. Your clients must love you - you have such a relaxed, lets make it work approach to life. That attitude certainly translates into a home that works perfectly for the owner.

That store seems to have something for everyone.

Hi dear heart,

I can’t wait to listen to your interview, but until then I just wanted to pop over to say “Hello, Friend!” As you know, I am very interested in beach design and decorating. Mine is coming along and I have one room almost finished! I really like the way that it is turning out.

Oh yes, I want to come play and go shopping with you in that wonderful store! I’ll buy lunch!(sigh…maybe someday)

Love you,
Deb

hey I am just listening to the radio show now…great stuff

of course I love the beach style, those pictures today are gorgeous, you know I passed up a lovely chair today at Vinnies exactly the same shape as the one in the pic, MrBeachCottage put me off it but now I’m running back to see if it’s still there….ahhh you know what it’s like though, I bet it’s gone, the fabric was navy and burgundy red check, not really yucky but not my decor, I thought I’d slip cover it with pale denim or canvass….but he said oh yeah we won’t do it….why why why did I listen to him???

thanks for the inspiration, lets hope it’s still there :-))

Sarah
