Baby’s Room: Nesting

by Melissa @ The Inspired Room on July 20, 2009

One of my good and most supportive blogging friends from the beginning, Holly Mathis, just had a new baby boy. I fell in love with his nursery (and of course, fell in love with him when I saw his precious face!). Almost enough to consider having another baby.

There is nothing sweeter than preparing a room for a baby. Whether it is your own impending arrival or a sweet grandbaby coming to visit, nesting is instinctual!

Enjoy these inspiring images of a peaceful room for baby!

I will never forget that special time of nesting. Gathering the soft toys in a basket, picking up sweet trinkets for the baby’s room and just enjoying every moment of an impending arrival.

Here was baby Henry’s room as a blank slate. What fun to start from scratch!

And look at it now! Isn’t that just an absolutely adorable nursery?

Every detail thought out with love.

I remember the baby shower activity where you share words of wisdom with the new parents. What a great idea to put them on beautiful cards you can read next to the rocking chair during those wee hours of the morning?

A very sweet room for a precious new life.

What a precious nursery! I just posted yesterday about my blank slate – which is not nearly as pretty as this one was. :) That curtain fabric is perfect. Thanks for the inspiration!

This takes me back to one of your earliest posts on how to decorate a child’s room. I was so intrigued by that one because it wasn’t all children’s action figures. For that reason, I think that Holly has done a beautiful job with the nursery. It’s not all Winnie the Pooh.

I had that same Jenny Lind crib. I Used the same one for both of my babies (born a year apart). Why people spend more on cribs is beyond me…it’s more fun to splurge on other more permanent & fun furniture. My daughter h-a-t-e-d a crib & was out of it in no time. She loved a bed w/rails & stayed in it. Weird. My son was in the crib for 3 years & would have stayed in it forever.

Beautiful nursery! Love it!

Hi Melissa,

I am returning to blogworld after a fairly long break. Just wanted to say I love the idea of the cards with “words of wisdom” for new mothers. What a grand thing to do for someone who doesn’t even know what questions to ask yet! Your posts always inspire me… and the room is so lovely, really an elegant look for baby’s room.

Blessings,
Christi

I remember getting my first baby’s room ready, 14 years ago; it’s one of my most intensely happy memories. What an elegant room this is, and what beautiful memories your friend will make here!

Baby decor has come a long way in 18 years. I remember thinking I was pretty daring to paint the nursery yellow to go with my Winnie-the-Pooh things. :) This nursery is just beautiful!

Hope you’re mending well! Lots of prayers going up on your behalf.

I absolutely love the colors. And the decor is not too babyish so it will work out great as the baby grows older. And what a great tree mural – understated yet beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
